Shisui was freaking out.Hagoromo was freaking out.
Everyone was freaking out.
So Shisui - somehow getting the sage to follow his example - did what he knew best; Ignore the issue until it went away.
It didn't, but they both still disregarded that and pretended that nothing was wrong. They would have enough time later to speculate about what the fuck was going on.
In the meantime, Shisui's sudden hydrophobic body was actually helpful in their case. Instead of losing their time in locating a shelter to linger in until the storm settled down, they could simply continue on their path to spot the island's coast.
The teen - after burning his old Uchiha attire and clearing away most of the sage's engravings - did just that, depending on Hagoromo's orientation skills to lead him in the right direction.
Shisui would have preferred finding a way out by himself, never being one to appreciate relying on other people too heavily. Still, he sucked it up, since he knew that refusing the old man's aid would be an idiotic move on his part.
And Shisui liked to consider himself as not being a complete dumbass.

"We're almost there." Embedded itself into an empty spot of the birch bark in Shisui's hand. After countless struggles to figure out the random locations of the sage's words - because the rain, mist and darkness really weren't helping -, they ended up realizing that having Shisui carry on his person a piece of birch was the easiest method of communication.
When the piece of wood was crammed with so much inscriptions that there weren't any places left to write on, the Uchiha simply replaced it. Simple as that.
In the same way as Shisui's new clothes, the bark couldn't get wet as long as it was in the teen's grip. It startled and confused the Uchiha - and maybe the sage, but there was no proper means of knowing - at first. It left Shisui with so much questions; if he wore gloves, would it still be waterproof? Why was it happening? How?!
He theorized for a bit before ultimately convincing himself to just roll with it.
"'We're almost there', as in like five minutes or one hour?" The teen asked, kicking with languor an insignificant rock as he was slowly making his progress to the top of a moderately steep hill. He was pretty sure his stroll was nearing the three-hour mark, which made him... terribly bored.
At first, wandering through the woods was like a breath of fresh air for him; Not only were there actual trees around, but he was alive and could touch them. He could feel the smooth surface of their leaves, trace with his fingers the irregular and coarse textures lining them.
He even saw a squirrel climbing its way onto one of them at one point.
It was new; it was great.
Shisui loved it.
But after roaming for hours on end and acknowledging that the scenery literally never changed once, it grew old pretty fast.
Same old trees, same old ferns, same old grass, same old mist, same old rain... it was redundant. He could have been running around in circles for quite a while and wouldn't have even noticed.
"As in, now." Shisui blinked at that, looking up and staring ahead.
True enough, an ocean dominated the foggy landscape, spreading for miles on end. Its water - a deep obsidian black - was vigorous and wild, waves incessantly rocking back and forth in an unpredictable pattern. The storm looked even worse over the sea; the wind being harsher - not having the forest anymore to decrease its flow - and silver flashes of lightning appearing on the horizon. Shisui glanced down and gulped, noting the deadly drop a few meters in front his feet and how the waves crashed against the rock face in a clamor.
