Ch. 2
Nero
Eastern Limpopo Province, South Africa 📍
I floated stomach up in a river. Half asleep and completely wasted; until I felt the water shift. I got up already completely alert, but whatever was in the water paused. The alcohol in my system basically vanished.
"hmm who's hiding here with me?" I said out loud.
I kept going, "Creepy Connie? Is that you?" [A reference from the TV show Jessie, from Disney]
Just then I was met with a huge set of jaws and judging by the color and look of them I knew it was a hippo.
"Fuck! fuck! fückity fuck fuck!" I yelled out. I heard giggling in the distance, but it was unimportant at the moment since I was staring a hippo in the face. Is this seriously how I'm going to die? Without getting forgiveness from my siblings? Without making sure they were well?
Well good thing I'm not human.
I disintegrated into tiny fragments of dust. Okay, I know dust sounds kind of pathetic but my very own psychotic grandmother taught me to use it to the best of my advantage. I can do more damage with it than you'd think!
I avoided a big stomp from the hippo by a mere second. I moved to the edge of the lake and changed back into my regular form. "Phew! You almost got me there!" I wiped some sweat off of my face. I wish I could say it was fake, but damn this heat is killing me!
The hippo charged at me again, but I used the water source near me as a barrier. I lifted myself up in the air using my water wielding ability to get out of there faster. Until suddenly I heard a, "Hey, wait up!" I paused confused as to who said that.
I took a look around me and found a girl looking up at me getting absolutely ignored by the hippo. The girl had cinnamon colored skin and a splash of light brown freckles. She looked young maybe in her late teens? She had hazel eyes and lavender hair.
"No fair! That hippo went crazy on me, but ignores you? I don't think that's very fair." She smirked up at me.
"Well maybe it only attacks ugly people?"
I gasped. "Well then why did he ignore you?"
"Well, obviously because I'm gorgeous." She said and I rolled my eyes at her.
"Who are you anyway?" I asked her
"I'm Seraphina, your guide." I snorted.
"For what?" I questioned.
"Does The Sea Wasp mean anything to you?" I froze and my face went pale. Grandmother.
"Um... Yeah. No. I'm not doing this." I rushed out as my heart rate quickened.
"Maybe this will change you mind." She handed me a piece of paper and it snapped open the moment it touched my skin, probably magic. I carefully read the note.
Nero,
I know where the rest of the Orcas are. I need something done. You know what to do.
Best,
~GrandmotherI sighed, of course she knew their whereabouts. She was of course grandmother, but I couldn't help but feel anxious at the thought that she hasn't done anything to them. For all I know she probably locked them up and this is all just a trap. I pouted and said, "I still don't get why I need a guide."
"Because it's a very top secret place. Only special people know where she is." Annoyance brimmed in her voice.
"Just tell me where it is and I'll go there myself." I insisted
"Nope. I want my paycheck, so I'm doing as instructed."
"Fine, but you better not be too annoying." I huffed out.
She laughed and said "Never!"
