"Adrien?" I whispered in confusion. I didn't know anyone named Adrien.

I backed away from the door, pulling it open and raising my eyebrows as I saw that the person on the other side was the boy from the portrait at the top of the stairs. This is Mr. Agreste's son.

The boy standing before me was very different from the picture, as his black garments were gone and replaced with a much more colorful outfit. He had on a white button up with a black t-shirt underneath that had colored stripes on it. He was also wearing a pair of regular denim jeans and bright orange converse, and the sad, serious expression from the picture was replaced with a shy smile and kind eyes as he awkwardly scratched the back of his neck.

"Yeah...hi. I'm Adrien Agreste. Welcome to Paris!" He said, holding out a hand for me to shake. I looked down at his hand, my eyes zeroing in on the silver ring on his finger and thinking back to the ring I wore on my own. I quickly pushed this thought away as I reached out and took it.

"Thanks. I'm Eloise Cartier." He smiled, releasing my hand.

"I know. That was the one thing my father actually told me about you when he said you'd be staying with us," He stated, "But I'm looking forward to getting to know more about you. It'll be nice to have someone my own age around the house."

I smiled, walking back into the room and leaving the door open so that he could follow me in. I sat down on the bench again as he walked over, sitting down beside me.

"Yeah...I don't get the impression that this is a very care-free environment."

"Understatement of the year." He stated. "So, what brings you to Paris?" I smiled, rehearsing my cover story in my head.

"My parents want me to get into modelling, so they asked your father to let me stay in Paris for a while so that I can learn the ropes."

I didn't feel that this was a very convincing lie, but its the one my mother came up with, so I'm going with it.

"That's cool. I'm a model too, so we'll probably be working together while you're here."  I smiled. "Its really not that hard once you get used to it, and the photographer we work with is really good, so I'm sure you'll get the hang of it. But I can help you, for sure."

"Thanks, Adrien."

"No problem," He said," I also heard you're coming to school with me?" I nodded.

"Yeah, I'll probably need your help with that too," I stated, causing him to furrow his eyebrows, "I've been homeschooled my whole life. I've never been to a real school before, much less been around so many kids that are my age."

"Yeah, I know what that's like. I wasn't allowed to go to school until recently." I glanced at him.

"What's your excuse?" I questioned.

"My father has a tendency to be a bit overprotective. I had to practically force him to let me go." I nodded.

"Same here. To be honest, that's probably why my parents were comfortable sending me to stay with you. They're overprotective too." He chuckled, and I did too, when suddenly his phone started beeping in his pocket.

"Oh, I've gotta go. I've got to practice my piano," He said, standing up, "It was really great meeting you, Eloise. I have a feeling you and I are going to get along just fine." I nodded.

"I couldn't agree more. I'll see you at dinner, I guess?" He nodded, flashing me one last charming smile before leaving the room and shutting the door behind him.

I like Adrien. He's not bad at all.

Maane now emerged from his hiding spot, flying over in front of my face.
