"I never would have guessed you were gay. You play sports!"
This is like the male version of "you're too pretty to be a lesbian".
It was created through the stereotype that all gay men are feminine and thus don't play sports. This is wrong on two different levels.
First of all, not all gay men are feminine. Everyone expresses themselves differently. You can be gay and masculine, you can be gay and feminine, and you can be straight and feminine as well. Your self-expression has nothing to do with your sexuality.
The second thing is that feminine or female-presenting people don't play sports. This is absolutely not true, as there are so many female and gay athletes.
I am once again asking you to stop invalidating people's feeling by using a stupid excuse such as "but you're too pretty" or "but you play sports" because these things don't have anything to do with your gender, sexuality or self-expression.
