The prince froze at the entrance of the kitchen. He could faintly hear the familiar tune that the servant was singing from where he stood, but he felt like he was invading privacy.
He urged himself to walk into the kitchen and absorb the servants beautiful voice. He gained courage and tip-toed into the hallway. He stares at the wall that held in the servants voice and listened closely.
It was the song. The song that his mother sang to him when he was a child.. memories flooded into his head as he listened to the servants dreamy melody. A tear fell down his cheek as he remembered his mothers kind smile as she rocked him to sleep. If only she could rock him to sleep again, but it was too late for that now. It happened 10 years ago and he was done grieving.
He sat up against the wall that held the room which the servant was in. The sound became louder and louder until the prince noticed that the servant was sitting exactly where he was, but on the opposite side of the wall. He started humming along. He didn't want to, but his mouth started vibrating before he could even think.
It almost felt like a dream. He was humming along to the person he truly loved as they sang a picture-perfect love song. The servant heard the prince's humming and immediately recognized the tone. He smiled when he knew that the one he too loved, probably felt the same. The fact that the prince walked all this way just to hear the servants voice was a dead giveaway.
The prince's hum floated into a song, and they harmonized. The harmony was so beautiful and mystical, almost like a fairytale. The two boys closed their eyes and drifted into a daydream. They were dancing, dancing to their own music, their own "Symphony." Shadows of people, outlined in white surrounded them, also twirling to the melody. Endlessly dancing in eachothers arms, belting the love song that pulled them together, and they both, the prince and the servant, never wanted it to end. They twirled and twirled, absorbing every single part they could get as they knew this moment wouldn't last forever. What would last forever though, is their love for each other. After these few minutes that felt like hours, they knew that they were meant to be. Meant to be together and live joyfully forever and ever. The prince and the servant could only imagine what would be ahead of them, they could only imagine everything that they would experience together. Oh, it was clear now. They would move into a foreign village when the prince's father kicked him out of the castle and live in a joyful little cottage. They would enjoy every last bit of it, too. The prince didn't care what his father thought. His father couldn't stop him. His father couldn't control who he loved no matter how hard he tried. The prince has always been stubborn, ever since his mother.... passed away. Nevermind that. Every imagination, every fantasy that the boys thought would come true. At least, they wished it would come true. It had to come true, or else the prince would literally cry. They knew that their story would end happily ever after.
They ended the song disappointedly and opened their eyes, only to realize that the dancing was real. Every part of it was real. Both the women and the musicians were staring at them, as the two boys were holding hands in the middle of the ballroom.
