Hermione knew it was morning for she could still see the light through her closed eyes. She felt a numb, painful feeling in her stomach. She remembered Ron yelling, "You deserve it,mudblood!"
But why? Why did she deserve it? And for what? She didn't know about anything she did wrong. She sat up and, almost immediately, she felt a sharp pain on her stomach but someone lay her back down, muttering,
"It's okay,Mione. Sleep."
Hermione's heart leapt with joy. It was Harry! She was over the moon about it.
"Harry! Harry,it's you! It's really you! I'm sorry about the way I acted! Please, take me back! Please!"
He grinned.
"Hermione,calm down. Honestly!"
"Hey! You can't steal my line!"
"Why not?"
Hermione whimpered but kissed him full on the mouth. He kissed back almost immediately. Hermione felt better than she had in weeks. The butterflies in her stomach were flapping faster than ever. Right at that moment,Ginny came bursting in. Her face looked devilish.
"WHAT THE FUCK DO TOU THING YOURE DOING,MUDBLOOD?!"
"DON'T YOU DARE CALL HER A MUDBLOOD,WEASLEY!"
"And what if I don't?"
"Then fuck you!"
She stormed off, fuming. Harry kissed Hermione again. She smiled.
"Sorry about her,", he said, smiling stupidly. "She's a git."
"What else is new?"
Harry laughed. Their eyes caught each other's. Hermione kissed him. This time it was a slow and soft kiss. They lay there, kissing, for what felt like hours. Until Mrs Weasley called them to dinner.Harry's point of view
Even though,Harry felt that he was going home to Hogwarts at last,he felt lonely. He had Hermione, yes, but it just wasn't the same as Ron. There was a lot less laughter when you were Hermione's best friend. But he couldn't be Ron's friend now,not when he had just stabbed Hermione. But Harry thought, what if Hermione wasn't his girlfriend? What if he didn't have to care as much? No,he couldn't break up with her. But,she needed to be safe. Her boyfriend was Harry-fucking-Potter. Of course, not. He needed to avoid all the trouble he could cause to Hermione. So he decided it was the only way. He walked up to the room that Hermione was staying in and sat down.
"Hermione,", he said doing his utmost to keep his voice from cracking with sadness. "I-I want to break up with you."
Her face fell.
"What?", she said, thinking that she might've misheard him.
"I just can't."
"Why?"
"I just want to!", he snapped at her.
"Okay,then."
"Bye.", he said, giving her a pout. He exited, his sadness, growing wider. That night,he fell asleep thinking about her. A nightmare occurred. There she was,Hermione,a silver knife held to her throat by Bellatrix Lestrange. She was whimpering uncontrollably. Harry noticed that the word 'Mudblood' was carved into her left hand. Harry looked at them in fear. He tried to lunge at them but something kept him rooted to the spot. Voldemort came whispering in Parseltongue.
Harryyyyy Potterrrrr.
Suddenly, he jolted awake, gasping for breath, his scar burning.Fred, who was sleeping on the same bed as him and George, grabbed Harry's arm and pulled him to Mr and Mrs Weasley. Mr Weasley was worried even though most of the time he was good-natured.
"What exactly happened in your dream?"
"Lestrange,Bellatrix Lestrange, you know, the Death Eater, she was holding a knife to Hermione's throat. It was scary. Then Voldemort came and whispered my name in Parseltongue."
Mrs Weasley and Hermione gasped. Hermione asked, her voice choked with tears,
"C-could this be r-real? C-could it a-actually h-happen in the f-future?"
"Possibly.", Sirius said with deepest sympathy while pacing.
Harry let out a tear at the thought of that happening. Hermione looked thoughtful.
"Well,You-Know-Who can't be near,can he?"
"It is a possibility,Hermione.", Sirius said, still pacing. Hermione let out a whimper. Harry went over to her and put an arm around her. Just because they weren't dating doesn't mean they weren't friends. Hermione buried her face in Harry's chest.
"Sorry,I'm ruining your nightclothes,Harry.", she muttered into his chest.
"It's alright, just let it all out."
Sirius stopped at Harry.
"I hope you're prepared,Harry. You'll need all the allies you can get."
Harry gulped. Harry stood up after letting Hermione go. He was ready. At least, that's what he thought.
"Sirius,", he asked. "What if I lose her? What if she dies?"
"Then you will not let her die in vain, okay?"
"I just can't bear the thought of losing her,Sirius."
"I know,Harry. None of us can. But we have to stay strong and not look back, but focus on what's in front."
Harry nodded. Hermione,too,stood up.
"Harry,we-we can do this. We will survive. I'll make sure of it."
Harry hugged her even though he had doubts. He knew nothing. All he had ever used was Expelliarmus. He didn't even know how to Stun. He decided that it was time to learn it all.
"Well,", Sirius said. "Off to bed you go."
They got up and separated to go to their rooms.
Harry lay awake. He couldn't take his mind off it. We have to stay strong and not look back but focus on what's in front. And he drifted off to sleep, feeling better.
