"So..." Poppy said, as she and Ariana walked, Zenid trotting up ahead of them. "Do you have any idea where we need to go to find your home?" Ariana stopped for a moment, looking around.
"Well... my parents and I came here looking for a special berry that only grows in this area. I think we came from that way." She pointed off to the right, Poppy nodding.
"Than that's the way we'll go."
They had been walking for a while, when they suddenly heard a twig snap behind them. They both jumped, spinning around, but saw no one.
"Who's there!?" Ariana yelled. No answer.
Slowly, she looked over at Zenid, and then nodded.
Zenid immediately began to growl, walking slowly towards a tree.
"We know your there!" Ariana yelled. "If you don't come out in five seconds, I'll tell my pet to attack!" There was still no answer.
"5... 4... 3... 2..." She paused, but no one came out from behind the tree. "Zenid. Atta..."
"No!" they suddenly heard from behind the tree. "Please don't hurt me." Poppy recognized that voice. She knew exactly who was behind the tree.
"Branch?"
Slowly, Branch stepped out from behind the tree, his head low, and ears drooping.
"H... hi, Poppifer," he said, smiling innocently.
"Oh my god, Branch! What are you doing here!?"
"I wanted to be with you," he said, sadly. "So I snuck away from Gia, and followed you."
"Branch! It's too dangerous for you to be here!"
She began to pace, thinking about what to do. She couldn't go all the way back to Trollstopia. Not now that they had come this far. There was no way of knowing how much time Branch had left.
"He's gonna have to come with us," Ariana said. "We don't really shave much of a choice now."
"Ok. But Branch..." Branch looked at Poppy. "You can't wonder off, ok? You gotta stay with us at all times."
"Ok," he said nodding. "I will."
