It has been a year now since the day he went away for the important job of his but I'm feeling rather happy than sad. Last week, he told be that he would be in town for a week. He said that he would love to spend time with me as much as possible within the time period he was given. He even wanted us to go back to his hometown and visit his parents. For months how I long to see, to smell and to hear the voice of the man I fell in love with. When I got the message, my body was filled with the ecstasy of joy. He told me to meet him at this cafe where his parents were to wait there as well. As a woman who has been separated from her lover for almost a year now, I came to the cafe early. To my surprise, I wasn't the only one who came early. His parents were there as well.
The three of us got a table for 4 and sat there waiting for him. I talked a lot with his parents. When we first sat down I told them who I was, where was I from, what do I do for a living and such due to the fact that they were quite interested in me. They were so worried for his first born to be away and not to mention any girl that he was interested in his letters. After a few minutes, we were talking like we knew each other from the very beginning. We laughed, we teased each other and we even shared our thoughts about the man whom will be arriving anytime soon.
An hour has past since the time scheduled for us to meet. Us three were getting worried that he wouldn't show up. All of a sudden, there he was. Walking so calmly into the cafe. Went to the counter to order some food casually as if he was a regular here. Before he was able to sit down, I hugged him as hard as possible and he returned the hug back. Soon both his parents stood up and hugged him as well. Tears were flowing from my eyes as if we were waiting for a dead man to come home. Us four talked for hours in that cafe not wanting to budge. He then told us that he wanted to go to the toilet for a quick second.
He didn't realise that he didn't take his phone with him. Half way through walking to the toilet, his phone rang notifying him that a message has arrived. I took my chance and checked his phone. To my surprise, the only number that was saved in this particular phone was mine and some random numbers I am not familiar with. The message states that "It is done.". I couldn't quite understand what the message meant so I laid it back on the table like nothing happened. When he got back, he had a pale look on his face like he just saw a ghost in there. As I asked " What's the matter, dear? Did the toilet business didn't go so well?" trying to ease up the atmosphere. He sat there silently and after a few seconds, the only words that came out of his mouth was, "I'm sorry." . He then pressed an odd looking button. BOOM!!! The whole cafe exploded. Leaving no survivors behind except me.
