Disease was slowly coming into Mystic Falls, and the Mystic Falls doctors didn't have a scooby doo on how to handle it. Compared to the twenty-first century the medical advancements in the nineteenth century was severely lacking. They thought that snake oil was a miracle drug for goodness sakes! Along with a whole load of other weird and unusual treatments as well.
The black haired woman was afraid, actually she was terrified at the thought of losing her family to the disease. So she did the only thing that she could think of and grew an interested in medicine. Damona wasn't a nurse or doctor in my past life but that didn't mean that she couldn't start now. The thoughts of the disease were put out of everyones minds because of the approaching Salvatore party.
And before Damona knew it, the Salvatore party date arrived at the mansion. All the staff had been previously warned that everything must be perfect or they would experience a wiping or something as equally cruel from her father. The party was in full swing with rich white men, bragging about their entitlement and their wives gossiping with each other.
The household had been in a buzz all day, making sure that everything was perfect while the maids dragged Damona out of her bed at seven am and putting her through all kinds of torture in the name of beauty. Damona had to be perfect in the eyes of the new settlers, especially for their sons.
Lily had brought in a beautiful blue party outfit for Damona to wear for the occasion. After putting on the dress with the help of her maid and adding the finishing touches of the outfit. Damona was announced and escorted into the ballroom by her father while Stefan was with his fiance. As instructed by the man, Damona went to sit at the piano located at the centre stage of the party. Giuseppe had found out about her talent for playing the piano and he couldn't resist showing it off to the other founding families.
The black haired woman's fingers danced on the piano keys as she played 'Clair De Lune', a piano piece that she personally loved. The other party guests seemed to enjoy her piano skills. As Damon hit the last piano key, the dancing stopped and everyone clapped at the piano performance. People approached Damona who was sitting at the piano, complimenting her skills. After a while she managed to escape them, heading straight to the buffet, she ended up happily chatting to a fellow female.
"Damona, come I want you to meet the towns new settlers," told Giuseppe, ushering the woman over to the new settlers. Damona smiled at the Maxwell family, putting on the perfect Lady act while seething inside. Her eye locked with Issac Maxwell's and an uncomfortable feeling began in her stomach. She didn't like him. "This is my only daughter, Damona Salvatore," introduced Giuseppe to the Maxwell family.
"She is as beautiful as you say Giuseppe," complimented Benjamin Maxwell, looking up and down at Damona. "My name is Issac Maxwell and it is a pleasure to meet you, Miss Salvatore," said Issac with a seductive smile, holding and kissing her hand like a gentleman. If Damona was any other girl she would have swooned at the jester. She could tell that the gentleman persona was as fake as hers and that was never good sign.
Giuseppe and the Maxwell family made light conversation while Damona stood in the background, listening in. Eventually they sent Issac and Damona away to socialise, in a terribly disguised plot to get to know each other and possibly get engaged in the future. "So Mr Maxwell how are you enjoying your stay in Mystic Fall?" Asked Damona with a flirty smirk, it was time to find out about him. Issac Maxwell was a tall dark haired man, several years older than Damona. It was a surprising that he wasn't already married.
"It has been a pleasant experience Miss Salvatore. May I have your permission to call you by your first name?" Questioned Issac, giving a similar flirty smirk. Damona paused for a moment before deciding. "You may but only if I get to call you by your first name."
"Well then Miss Damona will you give me the honour of dancing with you here?" Damona looked at the man in front of her with curious expression, her black hair blowing in the nights wind. "Of course Mr Issac," smile Damona, allowing him to take hold of her hand. They started off slow, getting used to each other before just going for it and dancing the night away.
"What are you?" Asked Damona, eyes diluted at the feeling of intoxication from Issac. She didn't notice it at first but now... Issac stopped dancing and looked straight into Damona's blue eyes with a smirk. "I am human, Damona. What do you think I am? A demon from the bible?" Questioned Issac with mirth in his eyes, Damona wasn't buying it.
The dark haired man walked closer to Damona, placing a finger under her chin. She was silently fuming as she used her own hand to flick it away. "You're so funny," said a sarcastic Damona, not acting how a lady should. She only knew of three species in the vampire diaries. Vampire, werewolf and witch. But surely there wasn't just them? These were the times that she wished that she had watched the tv show.
"I'm surprised to see someone like you here," hummed Issac, resting his hand behind his head. "I never did like formalities," he said with a smile. "Aren't they a bore?" Asked Damona, tilting her head to the side. "Yes, it's always annoying trying to figure out peoples ulterior motives."
"But seeing their faces when you insult them in the most polite way is always fun," chuckled Damona, she was starting to like Issac and hopefully he wasn't a secret dick. The two's spent the next thirty minutes chatting away to each other, until Stefan made his way towards them.
"Please excuse my interruption but father has asked that everyone come inside to hold a toast," explained Stefan with a smile as he watched Issac interact with his sister. "My Lady, shall I escort you in?" Asked Issac, holding out his arm for Damona to take.
'What the hell?' Thought the black haired woman as she grasped onto Issac's arm, Stefan followed them as they went back into the party. Damona stood up on her tip toes to reach Issac's ear. "You never did tell me what you are?" Issac looked down at her and smile. "If you allow me to court you in the future. I'll tell you."
"As long as you never betray me then I see no reason not to allow your attempt at courting," hummed Damona with a secretive smile. "Its a promise then," agreed Issac, getting two glasses from the waiter, giving one to Damona and preparing from the toast.
