Kris looked up at Nick after Alex left and then sighed. This whole trip was turning into one huge disaster. She never should have flown out to LA to ever begin with. And now she was going to be alone. Of course, she had the guys but that wasn't her best friend. And what in the world would make Resa leave? Even more so without telling anyone where she was going? Or was that something that Nick just didn't feel like he should share with everyone else?
Kris got off the couch and started pacing, ignoring the man who was staring at her. With Resa leaving, that was making Kris feel like shit. In some way, Kris was starting to feel like that because of her; Alex and Resa were splitting up, that it was her, Kris that was destroying this marriage. But, on the flip side of that coin, Kris was still slightly overjoyed. Sure, her and D were growing closer, but her heart did belong to Alex, always would and maybe she was fooling herself if she thought that she wouldn't try and break up their relationship.
Kris rubbed her face and then sat back down, once more glancing at Nick, who still seemed to be watching her. Finally, she snapped and glared at him. "What Nick?"
"What are you thinking?"
"Are you serious? You're really asking me that? For crying out loud Nick, my best friend just left the tour. I was here to hang with her and I sure haven't been. So, why should I stay?" Nick leaned forward, resting his arms on his legs and smiled at her.
"You stay because your Alex's best friend. You stay because you are friend with the guys. You stay because you are dating D. Do you really need more reasons?" Kris opened her mouth to say something and then quickly shut it. He was right after all; she had reasons to stay. But in all truth, was it really even a good idea for her to be alone? Could she stay away from Alex simply because she was seeing D? And that made her sound like such a horrible person.
"You're right Nick." Nick smiled and patted her knee.
"You know, I'm not some dumb blonde. If you need to talk Kris, I'm a great listener." Kris smiled at that. She hadn't doubted that, since Resa trusted him enough to talk to him.
"Hey Nick?" Nick stopped at the door and turned to glance at her before he opened it.
"Yeah?"
"Where did Resa go?"
"I honestly don't know. She left before I could catch up to her. But, I would really have to say she didn't go back home. After the way she talked, I think LA had to many memories and that was what she was trying to escape." He shrugged and walked out the door.

Kris went up to her hotel room and laid her bag down, quickly grabbing her phone as she felt it vibrate, thinking it was Resa, but frowning a bit as she saw the text from D. Not that she didn't want to hear from him per say, she was just more concerned over her friend. Granted, she really didn't think she would hear from her. She honestly felt that Resa was not about to contact anyone, period. She leaned against the wall as she silently read the message and then she quickly replied and then waited. Within a few moments, he was knocking on her door. She smiled at him as she opened it.
"Hey you," she said, allowing him to enter.
"Hey Kris." He kissed her cheek as he walked in. "I was just seeing if you wanted to a grab a bite with me?" Kris checked the time, figured she hadn't heard anything and nodded.
"Sounds good. Let me grab my purse." She turned around and went to the table and grabbed it. "Any idea where you wanted to go?"
"This small café down the way. Trust me, it's private and we won't be bothered." That was something that she seemed to be learning. No matter where the guys were, or how private any place was, someone knew them. And gracious that they were, they signed the autographs and took the pictures. And out of all of them, Alex really did have the biggest heart. Sure, they got frustrated when they were interrupted while eating, but Alex, he just smiled and did business as usual. And to her, seeing that only endeared him more. Once more, not a good thing.
-----
She finally sat her menu aside and looked up at D. He felt her gaze and looked at her.
"What's up?"
"I have no clue what to get." He chuckled a bit and set his menu aside as well.
"Is that what's really bothering you?" Deep down, Kris really knew the answer, but she could not dare confess that out loud. How could she, when in truth, she was very much confused?"
"Yes. No. Oh hell, I don't know." D frowned and grabbed her hand, playing with the ring there.
"I'm not a fool Kris. I know you have feelings for Alex. I'm kinda hoping that time away from him, time with me, might help those feelings fade." Kris swallowed hard at D speech. Part of her really wanted to believe that her feelings would fade, that being with D would help that all the more. But, another part, the part that loved HIM so deeply and for so long, just didn't want to let go. "Do you think you can stay away from Alex with Resa gone? After all, it's not like I can leave." Kris's eyes quickly shot to D's. He was right. But, was D reason enough for Kris to stay away from Alex? It should damn well better be. But she knew herself, knew Alex, and though she wanted to believe she could stay away, she really knew better.
She licked her lips and finally answered. "I know I should say that I can stay away D, but I feel like I'm really lying."
