"Emily I'm sorry I just thought I heard something outside the window." I cried as panicked sobs raked through my body. My hands were gripping the hotel phone so hard my knuckles were white. I was cowering underneath the desk in the room with my eyes fixed on the closed window.
"Rosie, take a deep breath for me. Spencer is on his way with Derek. They're entering the hotel lobby now. They'll be with you in-" She didn't have a chance to finish her sentence. A sharp knock on the door meant that the two agents had arrived. The phone fell from my hand as I ran to unlock the door. Derek entered the room first, gun drawn. It was almost instinctively that I ran past the muscular man and straight towards Spencer. He seemed alarmed by my tear stained face and messy appearance and was even more confused when I wrapped my arms around his middle and began to sob into his chest. Hesitantly he put his arms on my back as an attempt to comfort me.
"Rosie where did you hear this nose?" I heard Morgan ask from the other side of the room. Momentarily, I loosened my grip on Spencer so that I could turn round and point out of the window.
"It came from out there. It-it sounded like someone was tapping on the window." I cried.
"Shhh. It's okay." Spencer soothed as I buried my head back into his chest. It was rock solid and took me a moment to realise he was wearing a bulletproof vest.
"Reid stay with her I want to check outside." Morgan ordered before moving out of the room and disappearing into the stairwell down the hall.
Without removing my arms from his torso, Spencer began to awkwardly shuffle us further into my hotel room. He reached behind us to shut the door and lead us to edge of the bed. I hesitated for a second before finally releasing my grip on him and taking a step back.
"Spencer I'm sorry I'm just scared." I apologised quickly before sitting on the bed.
"You know statistically it's highly unlikely you'll be attacked in a hotel room." He stated.
"What? No exact facts for me today?" I sniggered, wiping my eyes with the sleeves of my hoodie. We smiled at each other and he took a seat beside me.
"I didn't think you'd want the exact percentages." He admitted. We smiled again and I leant my head on his shoulder. I could tell he wasn't completely comfortable with our contact and how close I was but he made no effort to move away, leaving me to find comfort in our small touches. After a minute or two my breathing finally calmed and the tears stopped. I took my head off his shoulders and pushed my hair behind my ears.
It had been a week since my family was murdered and I'd been in a hotel ever since. Fear kept me trapped in my room constantly. I only left if a member of the BAU was with me. I'd managed to strike up friendships with most of them apart from Agent Hotchner. His stone cold exterior made me go silent around him, constantly unsure of what to say.
Every evening a different member of the team dropped by to see me. Usually it was JJ or Rossi, they'd bring me dinner to my hotel room and sometimes stay with me whilst I ate. They'd leave me alone around eight and the cycle would repeat itself. I'd been given phone numbers for everyone on the team incase I was in trouble and discovered that Penelope who I spoke to almost every morning in the coffee shop was the teams technical analyst.
"There was no one outside, no evidence of anyone going round the back to reach your window. I don't think anyone was here Rosie." The sound of Morgan's rough voice scared me and my hands flew up to my chest defensively. Both agents picked up on my sudden fear and shared a look.
"Are you sure?" I asked fearfully, tears were pricking my eyes again.
"I'm positive Rosie. There was no one out there and nothing to suggest anyone had been there." Morgan sighed before looking at Spencer again. "Pretty boy, Hotch wants us back at the station to take another look at our profile."
