“I don’t want to be here anymore.”
He looked the boy, watching as he stared at his feet, only able to see the top of his shaggy hair. Where did he want to go, he did not know. He couldn’t help but to smirk, putting two fingers under the boys chin and lifting his head.
“What would you do to be anywhere but here?” He asked, staring into his bright blue eyes, eyes that were full of pain. He understood why the boy wanted to leave; he could see everything, his whole life revealed to him by just his eyes.
The boy was an outcast, different, hated. He knew exactly why he wanted, maybe even needed, to leave. He was one push away from falling off the face of the earth. One kick from finally breaking down. One word from doing something he would regret.
“Anything.”
“What?” He asked, not hearing what he had said. He really did hear him, but he wanted to be sure he heard correctly.
“Anything, anything at all. You name it and you can have it.”
He grinned, his not so perfect teeth showing. “Then to a new place you will go.” He said, releasing the boys chin. “One where you will begin anew. Don’t worry, you will have full knowledge of where you’re going. And a friend will be joining you as well, and only you will be aware that you do not belong there.”
“But… what is it that you want?”
He chuckled, shrugging. “Only time will tell. Now, off to a better place for you.”
