Reki yawned as he woke up and realizing there was an empty spot next to him. Where was langa? "Langaaaa! Are you here?"

"I'm in the kitchen! You want some sandwiches?" He shouted back.

"Yeah sure!" Langa walked in a minute later with two sandwiches and handed one to Reki as he sat down at his desk chair and silently ate the other sandwich, not daring to bring up an hour ago, before their nap. "So.. What do you want to do? I don't think we can go to the skatepark right now.. Oh! I need to go to Dopesketch! I need to Tell Manager Oka that I won't be able to make it to my job for a while." Langa tried to ignore the sad undertones of what his best friend said but it was hard... The weight of worry about losing his best friend and even possible crush came crashing down on his shoulders again and showed on his face. Reki saw how sad he looked and knew exactly what he was thinking about.

"Langa! I'm not dead and I'm not going to die any time soon! Please smile again or I might cry from thinking about it as well..." Reki looked on the verge of tears by now and Langa looked at him for only a second before stumbling towards the bed and engulfing him in a hug.

"Im sorry.. I'm just SO scared. I wish it wasn't you. I want to skateboard with you and get slushies together and.. and-"

"Langa! I'm gonna make it through this! I wish I didn't have to keep telling you this! I'm strong and I promise you I will grow up with you until we are old and not gonna be able to skateboard together anymore." Tears are streaming down both their faces as they hug each other, lying on the bed.

"Hehe.. I don't think we'll ever stop skateboarding, even when we are old.." Langa laughed through his tears and happy he got Reki laughing with him. They held each other for a few more minutes before,

"Langa."

"Yes, Reki?"

"Promise me. Promise me that you won't leave me and that you will be by my side at least until I get better."

...

"I promise Reki. I will stay with you until you get better and even longer than that."

"Thank you... We should probably leave now." Langa gripped harder and let go, sitting up and grabbing his skateboard. Reki got up and grabbed his skateboard as well and went downstairs, throwing his shoes on. Reki shouted into the house that they will be at the skate shop for around an hour and his mother told him to text him if something else comes up. They ran to the street and hopped on their skateboard. On the way there they just stayed silent until they reached the shop.

"REKI, LANGA! Where have you guys been these past few days? You just told me you both would be taking a few days off then left with no explanation!" Oka called out from behind the counter as the two came into the colorful shop.

"Sorry Oka. There has been a thing that came up that makes me unable to come to work for a while.. I came to help out a bit for an hour though!" Reki explained sheepishly.

"Well alright then. If you need to talk about something, just let me know." Reki hesitated. He wasn't sure how to put this in words and and hated the looks on other peoples faces when he told them, whether it was genuine sadness or pity. Langa squeezed his shoulder reassuringly and gave a small smile.

"I actually do have something I need to talk to you about!" Manager Oka stopped.

"Alright. What do you need to talk about?" Reki felt tears swelling behind his eyes, burning as he tried to keep them from falling.

"W-well... Oka, I have leukemia!" He blurted out. He shut his eyes tight as a final but failed attempt of keeping his tears from sliding down his cheeks. Once he didn't hear anything he looked up and opened his eyes to see his manager wide-eyed and almost crying. He even heard a sniffle from behind him from langa, knowing he wasn't taking the news a second time very well.

"Oh..." Oka mumbled. "Y-you should probably go home and rest.. I d-don't want to make you more sick."

"No! It isn't very bad right now and I'm taking good care of myself! I'm taking medications and not skateboarding unless it's the only transportation that's available! I feel really guilty about not helping so please let me help for at least an hour!" Reki pleaded. Oka looked at him, still wondering how he's so energetic when he's sick.

"Fine. I'll let do do a little bit of work for HALF AN HOUR! After that you are going home and resting." Oka said. He hoped Reki would get more sick from staying at his shop.

"Thank you so much!" And for the next half hour they worked hard, but not too hard, around the shop. Oka almost had to throw them out because they wanted to stay longer.

"Today was a good day." Langa said while they skateboarded home. It was again a nice quiet ride until they reached his house and ran inside. It was a chill night, they had pizza and watched cool skateboarding videos, set up a futon for Langa (Lol you thought they would sleep together again? Nope. Suffer.) and went to bed a bit early because Reki felt a bit tired.

"Goodnight.. Please wake up tomorrow.."

"Don't worry Langa. I promise I will wake up and we will eat pancakes in the morning before school."
