"REKI!"

~~~
"I'm very sorry, but his condition has gotten worse. He will have to stay here for a while until we can make him better." The doctor explained to everyone. Langa had called the rest of their friends to visit but they couldn't be let in yet because he was still unstable and people might overwhelm him.
"I-is there anything we can do in the meantime?" Cherry asked as Ms. Kyan was not able to ask questions due to her crying to sleep on a hospital chair.
"I'm afraid not. We put him on some medications but if this is to go on too much longer then we are going to have to resort to radiation therapy or a cell transplant. We haven't done many of those so its risky but if this is to go on for too much longer, then we might have to. Its up to the patient and his mother." Everyone was in tears by now, even if a few of them didn't understand much of what he was saying.
"Thank you, doctor. We will explain everything to Ms. Kyan when she wakes up." Joe said, hugging Miya. The doctor nodded and excused himself to check on Reki.
"Guys.. What are we going to do? W-what if Reki won't make it or m-maybe the transfer will go wrong! Or-"
"Langa!" Shadow, who had been silent through this entire thing, snapped Langa out of his panic. "Reki is very strong! I know everything is scary right now, and I'm scared too, but worrying isn't going to fix anything. We need to be there for him without going into a panic. I'm going to leave to my shop and explain to my manager the situation and be here to monitor Reki with his mother. It's the middle of the day and I'm assuming one of the other adults can drive you both to school for the last few hours and you can come here right after. They have businesses to run so they need to leave as well but will come back with you guys later. Does that sound like a plan, everyone?" Everybody was surprised by Shadow's calmness throughout this entire thing and all agreed. Cherry, Langa, and Miya left to be dropped off at school on his motorcycle and Shadow went down a few blocks to excuse himself from work and pick up some flowers for Reki. Joe stayed in case Reki's mother woke up and needed an explanation. Shadow came back and sat down as Joe left and Ms. Kyan woke up after an hour or so.
"What is happening..? Where is my baby? Is he alright?!" She started to freak out and Shadow quickly moved in front of her.
"Hey! Hey hey hey! Reki is fine! Would you like to calm down before an explanation?" He said. She nodded and took a few deep breaths.
"What is going on?"
"Your son has gotten a bit worse but the doctors are trying all they can do. He is not being allowed visitors currently because they don't want him to be overwhelmed. They put him on some medications and he is sleeping right now but when he wakes up, you will be able to see him. They said if this goes on for a while then they will have to do a slightly risky cell transplant and/or radiation therapy. He is very strong and they don't know if they will have to do that, but it is a possibility. I brought flowers for him and his friends are doing their own thing so they can see him later, including Langa. My name is Hiromi but your son calls me Shadow. Is that a good explanation?" He said, trying to keep her as calm as possible. She gave a small smile and nodded her head, despite the tears streaming down her face.
"How did you meet my son..?" She asked. He could tell she was trying to distract herself until the doctor came back in.
"That's a funny story. I am a skateboarder, like your son and we met at a small get together with other skaters who like to race and bet on certain things. He challenged me to a race and I won. We eventually skated together multiple times until he met Langa and he got challenged to a race by me because the person I was originally going to race but couldn't so we raced and afterward I started to actually get to know him and his friends because they needed a ride and I didn't want to say no-"
