There are lots of myths about the world.
-we all started as sludge in water
-there was a big bang and the planets started making themselves
-there are hundreds of gods / no gods / a few
Well let me tell ya'll something.
We started as humans, made by God from dust.
God created the universe, the heavens, everything.
There is only one God.
He prefers to show himself to us in three different forms:
-God the Father: the one who makes rules and lives in heaven over us
-God the Son: Jesus, who sent himself to die for everyone
-God the Holy Spirit: the one who lives inside of all Christians to help them make the right choices
Important reminder: THIS IS ALL ONE GOD! I know it can be confusing, but they are all one person. He just prefers to show Himself to us as three to make it a little less confusing.
We are not perfect.
About 8,000 to 10,000 years ago, God created the universe and mankind in six days. Six days!
He gave the first two humans, Adam and Eve, one rule.
One rule.
To not eat the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
Well guess what happened.
They did.
They ate it.
They ate the Forbidden Fruit.
(Some people pose this as an apple, but nobody knows what it really looked like.)
When they did, their eyes were opened and they saw that there is good and evil in this world.
Mistakes and terrorism.
But also good things.
But now they knew about the bad stuff, and could be tempted to do it.
So God had to take them away from the Garden of Eden, which was where they lived.
If you go and search up an online Bible, there will be many options. You can read them. For today, I'd like you to read Genesis 1 - 3.
You're back? Good. All because of the serpent (snake if you want the newer word), Adam and Eve were banished. They sinned because of it, and sin entered the world.
Have you ever done something you're not supposed to do?
I'll give you a hint: there is a correct answer.
Everyone has.
Even me.
Even you.
Even your parents.
Even your teachers.
Even the people who lead a church.
So yes, you have done something you're not supposed to have done.
We all have.
We've all got a sin nature, wanting to do what is wrong instead of the right things.
Think about that for a moment...
