Hazel POV
The sun was hiding behind the clouds and the trees when I woke up. I had no idea how or why I fell asleep like that, but I did. Nex must have left a while ago, and I was shocked to see that I was still fully clothed. Nex even placed the dark blue blanket over top of me.
I sat up and drank some of the water from the glass he must have filled. After placing the cup back down, I sat, staring at the door and waited. Maybe an hour went by, or maybe two, when he finally opened up the door.
He was wearing another pair of cargo pants and a black t-shirt. This was the first time I saw him wearing anything short-sleeved. The white gauze was still wrapped tightly around his forearm, but now there was some blood that was creeping from a new slash he must have done. What did he do to hurt me that would cause another cut?
"What happened?" I asked, still staring at the blood.
"Nothing." He came over and sat down next to me and placed a hand on my knee. "Are you ok? You slept quite awhile."
"I'm fine." I was still thirsty and hungry, but those things didn't matter to me. I needed to know what happened to Nex. "What happened to your arm?"
He completely ignored me. "There's something I need to show you."
"What is it?" I asked, momentarily forgetting his injury.
"Come." He stood up and grabbed my hand.
I followed him out into the hallway very confused. What did he want to show me this time? Did he want me to kill another one of the masked people that were down in the basement?
My breathing slightly accelerated as we walked down the staircase leading into the three way hallway. I had expected him to turn to the left to the basement, but instead he turned to the right and into the unknown.
There were five closed doors down this hallway, we stopped in front of one at the far side of the hallway. Nex turned to me before opening the door.
"Last night we found some people trying to break into the house."
"We?" I asked way more confused.
"You don't expect me to be living here all by myself, do you?"
I looked back down the hallway we came from and realized that Nex's friends probably slept in the rooms that were down here. It also all made way more sense. How would Nex have gotten all the masked people downstairs all by himself? He would have definitely needed help. I also remember at least two people talking when they were dealing with my wound.
I shook my head slightly to him and looked towards the door. Who would have tried to break into this place anyways? Nex stared at me a second more, before opening the door.
The first thing I noticed were the two large men wearing all black, who were standing right in front of the door on the other side. When they turned around, they saw who we were and moved out of the way for me to see who was laying down on the ground.
I immediately stopped in my tracks when I recognized the three figures.
