Hazel POV
I didn't pull away from the kiss. In fact, I leaned into it as well. I was terrified of course, scared about what he was going to do, scared about getting raped again.
He pulled away though, with a huge smile playing on his lips. "You should get some sleep. I'll see you in the morning."
He got up to go, but I quickly grabbed onto his wrist. "Can you stay?"
He looked towards the door and then at me, biting the bottom of his lip slightly. "I have to go, but I'll come early in the morning."
I let go of his wrist and tried my best to hide my disappointment. "Ok, see you tomorrow. Goodnight."
He smiled and walked over to the door. "Night." He called from over his shoulder, and then closed and locked the door.
I laid down and rolled onto my side facing away from the door, and thought of what just happened. I kissed Nex, or Nex kissed me. Did he love me? Do I love him?
These thoughts whirled in my head as I fell asleep.
* * *
I walk in the woods, but I don't know why.
The moon casts shadows that move as I continue onward, stepping over roots and under branches. My hair flies behind me as the wind tries to take it away. Even when I feel the first raindrop splash against the top of my head, I continue on. I have no idea where I'm going, only that there is something at the end that I need.
Then the screams started. They came from somewhere in front of me, and sounded as though they needed help. I rushed forward. The rain came down faster the faster I ran, but I didn't care, I wanted to help whoever was in trouble.
I then came to a small clearing, but the screaming still didn't stop. It seemed like the screams were getting further away every time I tried to get closer. I stopped my running and looked around in the clearing. The rain wasn't actually water, but instead warm blood.
My eyes grew wide at everything that I was looking at. My clothes, the grass, my hair, all covered in thick hot blood. My breathing accelerated and I could make out the scream morphing somewhere up ahead. The scream turned from one scream into three different but familiar screeches.
I called out for Emma, Kyle, and Billy as I ran forward. But no matter how far I ran, the screams never got closer. I finally tripped over one of the roots that had jutted out of the ground, and fell hard to the ground. I was too tired and drenched to get back up. The blood felt like a heavy blanket that was suffocating me. The screams were now getting closer and even closer to me, as I curled up in a fetal position.
I clamped my hands over my ears and tried to block them all out, as I begged for them to stop. They didn't comply. They got even louder inside my head. The blood rain falling in heavy sheets and dripping from overhead branches. I let loose a scream equal to their pained one.
They stopped their screaming, but then instead cursed me out and said things that hit me like a slap with every word that passed their lips. They said over and over that it was all my fault and that they were glad I didn't return to them. Glad that I wouldn't be near them, and glad that I almost died.
The rain completely soaked through my clothes and I could see the moonlight through the gaps between the trees shine down and brighten up the red blood.
