*Third POV*
"Excuse me. Would it be okay if I took that basket, straw and some bamboo?", Tanjiro asked. "Sure, you're welcome to it, but that basket's full of holes.", said the farmer. "Yes. I'll pay for it.", Tanjiro said. "No, that's all right. I mean, it's a basket with holes.", the farmer said. "Yes. I will pay you!", Tanjiro shouted. "No, it's all right. You can have the bamboo and straw for free, too.", the farmer said. "But I'm still paying you!", Tanjiro yelled. "I said it's okay! You're one stubborn kid!", the farmer shouted. "Please accept this, although it's just small change!", Tanjiro shouted smacking coins in the mans hand. "Thank you very much!", Tanjiro shouted running away with the items. "Ouch!", the man shouted holding his hand.
Himari and Nezuko were both in a cave waiting for Tanjiro to get back. Nezuko had dug a hole while Himari stood off to the side. For some reason the sun didn't seem to bother her. She got an idea and decided to walk out the cave. Nezuko made a few muffled noises to tell her to stop. But Himari kept walking until she was finally in the sun. Tanjiro saw her and his heart dropped to his stomach. He quickly ran over to her and dragged her back into the cave. "Himari! What are you doing?! You could have died. You scared me never do that again!", Tanjiro rambled. But what he didn't notice was that she didn't burn in the sun. "Hmm.", Himari hummed. "Huh? You didn't burn?! What?!", Tanjiro gasped. "Did you not turn? No you have the smell of a demon. But wait! You also smell human? Are you half human and demon? Is that even possible?! Does that mean you can eat human food and walk under the sun?", he questioned. "Okay we'll figure that out later. Nezuko? Huh? Nezuko? She's gone! There she is.", Tanjiro said. Nezuko popped her head out of the hole like a mole.
"Nezuko...", Tanjiro said. 'She dug a hole? My kid sister's turned into a mole. And she's frowning.! She must really want to avoid the sunlight.' "Wait there for a second!", Tanjiro said. He started to build a little basket for Nezuko to avoid the sunlight. "Nezuko? Nezuko? Think you can fit inside this? I want to keep moving during the day, too. I'll carry you, okay? Can you fit? In here? Basket.", Tanjiro explained. Nezuko got out the hole and crawled into the basket. But she only got her upper body in it and fell. "She kinda protrudes, huh?", Tanjiro said. 'I can't believe she grew up. Seems like yesterday she was tiny. Along with Himari!' "Nezuko? Remember how you became big like an adult earlier? Do you think you can do the opposite? Get smaller? Smaller, Nezuko. Get smaller!", Tanjiro encouraged. She flipped upwards and shrunk into the basket. "Good job! That's a good girl, Nezuko! I'm impressed!", Tanjiro praised as he pat her head. Himari hummed holding her hand. "Himari. Here, put this over you body just incase!" Tanjiro said giving her his haori.
"Mt. Sagiri? If you want to go to Mt. Sagiri, you'll have to cross over that mountai, but... The sun's about to set. Are you really heading there with all that luggage. And the young lady next to you? It's dangerous, you know?", said the lady. "We'll be careful. Thank you very much.", Tanjiro kindly said bowing. "People have gone missing lately! Try not to lose your way!", the lady worriedly said. Tanjiro just waved goodbye holding Himari's hand.
It was finally night time so now Nezuko can walk with them. "There's a temple over there. There's light leaking through, so someone must be there. Let's check it out.", Tanjiro said. Suddenly he gasped as he smelled blood. "I smell blood! This mountain path is pretty rough! Someone must've gotten hurt!", Tanjiro shouted. The trio ran up the temple stairs to see what happened. Tanjiro shoved open the doors. "Are you all right?", Tanjiro shouted. He gasped and dropped his basket at the sight in front of him. There was a demon eating people in the temple. "What the hell? This is my turf. If you break into my territory, I'll make you pay!", said the demon. 'It's a man
-eating demon!' Nezuko smelled the blood and forced herself to hold back. She started salivating while clinching her fists so hard her nails dug into her skin. "There's something off about you. Are you three humans?", the demon asked standing up. Suddenly the candle went out and Tanjiro went flying back. He pulled out his hatchet and sliced the demon in the throat. But he healed instantly. "A hatchet, huh? Not bad. But a scratch like this... should heal in no time. See that? The bleeding's stopped already.", said the demon. Himari gasped as she saw Tanjiro on the ground. She had broken out of the trance before Nezuko. Nezuko was breathing heavily and drooling a lot. The demon disappeared and reappeared in front of Tanjiro choking him. 'He's so fast! And he's unbelievably strong!' "You wont get me twice! All right. Im going to snap your neck!", yelled the demon. Himari shook Nezuko so they could go save Tanjiro. Nezuko ran over and kicked the demons head off its body, while Himari kicked his body off of Tanjiro. 'Th-they killed him! Oh, but wait! He's a demon, so...' "N-Nezuko... Himari...", Tanjiro said. Himari kicked the demons body to a tree. 'I don't believe this! Did he just move without his head?!' "You bastards! Two of you are demons after all? You gave off such a weird vibe! What's a human and demons doing teaming up?", shouted the demon. 'He's actually talking!' The demons headless body ran towards them at an alarming rate. He jumped up and slammed his foot down towards Nezuko and Himari causing dust to fly everywhere. He, Nezuko, and Himari started fighting. "Stop it!", Tanjiro yelled picking up his hatchet. The head of the demon had grown arms from its head and ran at Tanjiro. He swung his hatchet into the demons mouth as it grabbed his shoulders. "Nezuko! Himari!", Tanjiro yelled as the demon threw them to the ground kicking them. He picked them both up and threw the into the forest. "Nezuko! Himari!", Tanjiro shouted trying to get free from the head. 'What's the deal with this guy? Growing arms from his head! I gotta save Nezuko and Himari!' "Out of my way!", Tanjiro shouted as he head butt the demon. The force of it made the demon let go. 'Hard as a rock' Tanjiro grabbed the demon again and head butt him even harder this time. 'That head of his! Like a rock!' Tanjiro screamed grabbed the hatchet and threw the demon to the tree. The hatchet got stuck on the tree trapping the demon. "Okay!", Tanjiro said. "I wrapped my hair around his hatchet to grab it, but it got tangled up! Damnit!", the demon shouted. Tanjiro ran to save his sisters from the demons body. "Nezuko Himari! Where are you guys?", Tanjiro shouted. He looked all over until he picked up theri scent and ran to them. He saw the demon kicking Himari who was standing protectively in front of Nezuko. "Himari! Nezuko! Stop it!", Tanjiro shouted and he tackled the demon. But he didn't watch where he was and fell off the cliff. Nezuko and Himari quickly grabbed his haori and pulled him up.
The demon fell off the cliff on its neck and the head passed out. Tanjiro grabbed a knife to kill it. 'I wonder if there are tons of demons out there. This isn't the scent that was lingering in my house. That was a different demon....but... I gotta finish him off... or he'll attack more people! So...I gotta do it!' Tanjiro was breathing heavily as he was hesitant to kill the demon. 'Do it!' Suddenly a hand came into contact with his shoulder. He looked back to see a man with a red mask on his face. "You can't finish him off with that.", said a deep voice. 'A goblin mask! I didn't hear his footsteps!' "H-how can I finish him off?", Tanjiro asked. "Don't ask me! Can't you use your own head to figure that out?", scolded the man. 'If stabbing's no good, I'll have to crush his head!' Tanjiro grabbed a rock to smash the demons head yet he was still hesitant. 'To crush his skull and smash it completely, I guess I'm going to have to pound him with this rock many times. I bet he's going to suffer. Isn't there anything I can use to kill him with one blow?' Tanjiro was too kind of a person. He didn't want the demon to feel any pain and to get it over with quickly. 'This kid isn't going to cut it. He's too kind and can't make decisions. He's facing a demon, yet the scent of kindness remains. He has empathy for even a demon. Giyu... He's never going to make it.' Suddenly the demon started waking up. 'I blacked out. Is my body dead, then? I feel sick!' "You bastard, I'll kill you! I swear I'll devour you! Get over here! Damnit! I can't go to you, so you come to me! Hey, are you listening, brat?-", the demon went on. 'I faltered too long. Now the sun's coming up!' "Are you listening to me brat?", the demon gasped as he saw the sun come up. He screamed in pain as the sun burned his body. Tanjiro dropped the rock in surprise. 'He's gone with that much sunlight?! Now wonder Nezuko shrinks from it!' He suddenly looked around for his sisters. "Nezuko? Himari? Nezuko? Himari?", he shouted. He gasped and ran to the temple looking for them. He sighed in relief as he was Nezuko in her basket and Himari next to her. "Nezuko....Himari... O-oh, that's right. Where's that man?", Tanjiro asked. He walked to the side of the house to see the man praying at the newly buried bodies. 'He buried the people who got killed.' "Um...", Tanjiro called out. "I'm Sakonji Urokodaki. I'm assuming you're the one Giyu Tomioka sent my way.", he said. "Yes! My name is Tanjiro Kamado! My sisters names are Nezuko and Himari, and...", Tanjiro said. "Tanjiro... What will you do when your sisters devour a human? ", Urokodaki asked. Tanjiro gasped as Urokodaki walked towards him. He slapped Tanjiro in the face. Tanjiro touched his face in shock. "Too slow! You're just too slow at making decisions! You failed to finish off that demon before daybreak! Do you know why you couldn't answer my question right away? It's because your resolve is too weak! There are two things to do if your sisters devour a human. Kill your sisters! And slit your own belly and die! That's what it means to travel with your sisters who became demons! But that must never happen no matter what. And you'd best not forget. Your sisters, taking the life of innocent people..... That's the one thing that must never happen. Ever! Do you understand what I'm saying?", Urokodaki explained. "Yes!", Tanjiro said determinedly. "All right, now I'm going to test you to see if you're fit to become a member of the Demon Slayer Corps. Carry your sister on your back and follow me!", Urokodaki yelled.
