Steven and Connie were fast asleep in their bungalow house at the outskirts of prehistoric park. They were having a good sleep before they were woken up by the sounds of loud trumpets and bellowing

Steven: oh... Connie, you won't believe the dream I-

He look around and remembers this was reality and not some dream and Connie wakes up

Connie: oh, morning Steven

Steven: morning

They get ready to see where Nigel Marvin was and which prehistoric animals he wanted to bring back today. Amongst the hills of this reserve, the dinosaurs were getting used to their surroundings. Terence and Matilda gotten a bit bigger by a few inches and were really ready for breakfast

Connie: how are the T. rex doing?

Bob: fine for now lassie,  but these beasts have a big appetite

He gets a crane ready and moves it to the other side where the T. rex were waiting. When Nigel saved them, they were just orphaned after their other was fatally injured in a fight. He managed to save them from certain death seconds after a massive meteorite hit. Now they were really happy with their new home

Steven: where's Nigel?

Bob: oh, I think he's with the local elephant herd

Connie and Steven: elephants?

They head over to find Nigel to see him with an African elephant herd planning his next prehistoric rescue

Steven: morning Nigel

Nigel: oh! Morning Steven, Connie

Connie: so, which animals are we gonna rescue today, yesterday was exhausting

Nigel: well, I've decided to rescue a very famous animals, a close relative of these beauties. I adore elephants. And of course they have a long history. There were many different species of elephant, the mastodon and the woolly mammoth. People think they have the same family life, the same social history, but what I want to do is travel back in time, and find out wether that's true. Maybe even bring a woolly mammoth or two to prehistoric park

He runs the trunk of the elephant next to him

Nigel: would you like to meet a woolly mammoth?

Nigel: would you like to meet a woolly mammoth?

Steven: we're rescuing

Connie: woolly mammoths?

The two look at each other

Both: cool!

In any conservation project, it's the most endangered species Nigel wants to rescue. So he's got to travel back to the time mammoths were on their last legs. That was at the end of the last ice age, freezing plains were home to huge herds of mammoths. But 10 thousand years ago it all changed

Their world was turned upside down by global warming, the ice was disappearing and so were the mammoths

Their world was turned upside down by global warming, the ice was disappearing and so were the mammoths. Nigel Steven and Connie were at his tree house making plans

Nigel: this is at the last ice age, and what was happening, it was still cold, the ice sheets, they were reseeding northwards, the mammoths were going there too. According to all my research, the last surviving mammoths were found here, just east of Europe

By going back to the brink of extinction, they'll see what killed off these magnificent beasts and get their chance to save the woolly mammoth

By going back to the brink of extinction, they'll see what killed off these magnificent beasts and get their chance to save the woolly mammoth. They picked their snow jackets and their jet-ski and they were off to the last ice age, 10 thousand years ago
