Dhawan and Brute had a busy eve. Now they had nothing to do. The case was almost over, for Dhawan, but not for Brute. Brute's interest was different than Dhawan's interest. He wasn't interested in finding the killer at all. He was interested in finding more about Devaant the cursed shell.
They both were roaming on an empty street along with Krystene carrying Crunchy. Dhawan was walking with the help of a supporting stick as he had his right knee plastered.
"Brute," Dhawan said, "you know, you're the first human partner in my missions."
Crunchy eyed him.
"I've never seen a child like you," Dhawan continued. "You're smart, you're clever, you're intelligent, and you're brave and......"
"Thanks", Brute said.
"And you too Krystene," Dhawan whirled towards her, "you're brave too. You stayed for almost half of a day with an assassin and you're still alive! And the moment when you used the pepper-spray! It was commendable."
"Thanks", Krystene smiled.
"Why've you brought us here?" Brute stopped. "We're walking aimlessly on this road since half–an–hour."
"Oh, yeah," Dhawan remembered something and pulled a folded A4 sized sheet from his pocket and handed it to Brute along with two business–class plane tickets. "You're admitted in a boarding–school and you're going back to India along with Krystene. That's your real home!"
Brute stared at him in disbelief. 'This isn't possible', he thought. For almost two days, he thought that his life was changed forever. Was that just a thought? He wanted a family. He thought he got that, but no. He was adopted just for a few days, that too for a little help in a top secret case. But was it fair?
"But..." Brute was speechless for a moment. "But you adopted me! You're my family, right?"
Dhawan exhaled a long breath. "Brute, I've already told you that I adopted you just for this case."
"But that isn't fair!" Brute shouted. "You signed on those papers."
"No I didn't," Dhawan was now feeling irritated. "They were fake. You should have asked your deceased headmaster!"
"It's not the truth", Brute screamed.
"It is the truth", Dhawan said and started walking back.
Crunchy jumped and walked along with Dhawan.
"You're a cheater!" Brute cried. "That's why you don't have any family! That's why no one has married you! That's why no one loves you! No one!"
Dhawan was trying to ignore Brute's screams, but his screams were echoing in his head. He had never felt so bad for anyone. He didn't want to leave Brute like this, but he had no choice. He did this for him only. For Brute. His missions aren't a child's play. There are fifty per cent chances of losing life. He didn't want Brute to fall in such situations. He did this also because he didn't want to convert Brute's life into hell. Being a spy is not at all easy. You have to choose between Nation and Love. That is a very difficult situation for any being. However, Dhawan didn't have any family. He didn't have any love. He never felt to choose any one in any condition. Yes, Crunchy is much like his brother, but Crunchy is a clever secret–agent, he never falls in such situations. But Brute had a love - Krystene. If Brute becomes a spy too, he'll have to choose between Nation and Love. Dhawan knew that Brute wasn't mature enough to understand such situations. Therefore, he had to leave Brute alone.
CIA agent Thomas Dunkirk was sitting in his office. He had asked Duke Stain to go to a hospital immediately after they busted the bandits in the bank. Stain was badly bleeding, but he was in a better condition now. Dunkirk barely used to sleep even in late nights. He is a busy person who loves to work. Right now, he was sitting idle on his chair, wondering about the recent case. He was very curious to know more about it. He had never been into any such type of case. As told by Dhawan, the case seemed very confusing and complex. However, now everything was going to be clear as the investigating team was investigating more and more clues in the assassin's bungalow and his original telephone number was successfully revealed.
