Elsa
Elsa hid behind the tree and watched Jack and Amy leave before stepping out from behind it once they were gone. She thought Jack might have heard her when she stepped on a twig and looked back, but thankfully a squirrel showed up to distract him. She sighed as she watched their figures get farther and farther away until disappearing behind a corner.
She never knew how much it would hurt her to be so close to Jack without being able to talk to or touch him. In a way it was torture having him so close.
So close and yet.....so very far away.
She had to keep reminding herself that this was the best thing for him no matter how much it hurt her. She almost gave in on many occasions and walked up to him just to see if he could see her, but her conversation with Tooth always stopped her before she did. Her mind went back to that day that she went to see her after watching Jack playing with his sister by the pond. He looked so happy and..... free. She had come really close to showing herself to him that day because she missed that closeness with him that he now had with his sister. To feel that loved and cherish again.....
To stop her from doing anything stupid, she decided to go see Tooth. If there was one being in this world who knew what she was going through it was Tooth.
Elsa flew into Tooth's floating place. She was desperate to find the only being that could help her find clarity about her dilemma with Jack.
The magical sight before her with the floating waterfalls and rainbows dancing everywhere didn't hold appeal like it did the first time. She was too busy looking for Tooth to really look around and take notice. Her only focus was finding Tooth. She needed to find her because she was the only one who knew what it was like to love someone and how.....how to let them go.
Elsa flew into the Golden place and found tons of little fairies flying around her up above putting teeth in little Golden tubes. Everything looked a lot better in here then it did before. The Golden tiles were back in place and the floor was shining. Elsa couldn't help and think about the last time she was here and all the destruction that happened and the.....death.
Elsa shivered as she remembered the tiny bones littering the floor. She shook her head, trying to dispatch the image form her brain.
I came here to look for Tooth not to Remnants about the past. Remember the past is in the past.
Feeling more focused now Elsa looked around before finding Tooth floating in the middle of the room as she watched all her fairies around her work. Tooth suddenly spotted her below and her pink eyes widened before she gave her a little smile.
"Elsa what are you doing here?" She asked flying down to her.
Elsa took a breath for courage before asking the question that she came here to ask. She didn't want to tell her about Jack, it would hurt her too much to know that he was back but that they would never be able to see or talk to him ever again.
I'll spare the rest of the guardians the same pain I'm experiencing now by not telling them about Jack.
"Tooth, when you were in love with Jack.....how did you find the will to let him go?" She asked, ringing her fingers, nervous now that she asked it.
Tooth's eyes widened before she slowly looked at her for a long moment before enlightenment shined in her eyes, like she could see why she was asking, but really she didn't.
Tooth thinks I'm asking because she thinks Jack is still dead, when its really the complete opposite. Jack is anything but dead......and that's what makes this so much harder.
Tooth sighed. "It was not easy. It hurt more than anything to let the one you love go.....but I did."
Elsa moved closer. "But why? If you loved him so much why didn't you fight for him? He could have been so much better off with you then he ever was with me." She said looking down.
Tooth shook her head quickly. "Your wrong Elsa. Jack loved you, that's why I didn't fight for him. You made him happy, more than I ever would have. You were the first to make him come alive after hundreds of years of loneliness." She smiled sadly. "I knew I could never replace you in his heart."
Elsa felt tears start to gather in her eyes that she push back. "Is that why you let him go?"
Tooth looked away for a second. "Well that and another thing." She looked back at her with eyes showing with so many emotions it was hard for her to read them all. "I wanted him to be happy Elsa, and I leaned that sometimes being in love means putting their happiness.... before your own happiness."
Elsa let those words ring through her head as she looked at the spot that Jack was at before turning away. It was the hardest thing for her to do but she knew deep down it was the right thing. She needed to finally.....let Jack go. She couldn't be selfish no matter how much she wanted to be. She loved him too much to see him suffer again.
I never knew love could hurt this much.
Elsa wiped her tears as she wondered the woods, not really seeing anything as she looked around. The sun was setting giving the woods a nice warm glow. The leaves were starting to change color hinting at fall coming and then soon after winter. Elsa sighed as she walked the woods going farther and farther from the pond. She had no destination in mind or anywhere she needed to be so she decided to take this time and walk.
She walked for a while, not really taking in the beauty of the season around her until suddenly the whole place became dark.
