It Wasn't Me [Taekook/Vkook]

Chapter 5

Taehyung sat on the chair nervously. Being in an interrogation room and the same building in which Jungkook had kissed him once, made him a little uneasy. He was also nervous about facing Jungkook for some reason. He'd seen the detective in get-togethers and parties but not anything serious. And this was a serious situation, a very serious one.

He was waiting for Jungkook to show up, the latter's secretary kept eyeing him suspiciously. A few seconds later, another man appeared, Min Yoongi. Taehyung recognised him from the pictures Jimin keeps showing him.

"Hi Taehyung, I'm detective Min Yoongi." They shook hands.

"Hi. Is there any particular reason I was called for?"

"Yeah, we need some answers so we can protect you" Yoongi answered and Taehyung nodded.

He looked up when he heard footsteps. It was Jungkook in his uniform. Oh, how Taehyung loves men in uniform.

"Hey Taehyung, sorry for the short notice" Jungkook sat next to Yoongi.

"Oh that's okay" Taehyung smiled at the younger.

"So we have a few questions for you and answer everything without leaving out anything, okay?" Jungkook looked at Tae in between glimpsing the papers.

"I have nothing to hide" Taehyung assured.

"Is that so?" Min Yoongi questioned and Taehyung nodded.

"Lovely. How was your relationship with Jihoon?" Yoongi questioned.

"Um we were a basic couple I'd say. He was fine and not overbearing, no. But.."

"But?" Jungkook spoke.

"But we weren't as close as I had wanted us to be. There was um.. no emotional intimacy"

"Sounds like you were planning to call this off?" Yoongi suggested.

"I've been wanting to tell you this, actually" Taehyung spoke to Jungkook. "I had the idea in mind but I never got the chance to talk it out with him"

"So he didn't know?" Yoongi asked.

"He didn't know."

"Did anyone else know about this?" Jungkook asked.

"Um my brother Namjoon, his boyfriend Jin and also Jimin, my best friend"

"That's it?" Yoongi noted something.

"That's it"

"Hm so did you see any note when you got home that morning?"

"What kind of note?" Taehyung questioned.

"A post it" Jungkook answered.

"You mean the ones Jihoon sticks on the refrigerator? Yeah i don't think i saw one, no. He's very serious about his notes. He was, I mean.."

"So you haven't seen this?" Yoongi showed him the note they had got.

"No I definitely didn't read that. What did he find out? You think he found out about-"

"About you wanting to break up, yeah."

"I doubt it" Taehyung answered Jungkook. "But I can't think of anything else. This means he had to be home by the time I was back but I'm sure his door was open, meaning he wasn't home."

"You said the door was closed when you saw it?" Yoongi read the report.

"Yeah that was after my nap. I'm talking about the time I got back from work, his door was open then."

"Did you take a peek?" Jungkook asked.

"Uh no.. I was exhausted from working 2 shifts, I didn't even eat"

"Hmm. So he must have came home after you went to sleep." Jungkook suggested.

"Yeah, now that i think about it.. I think i did hear Tannie bark sometime when i was sleeping. And he barks at Jihoon everytime."

"So he might have come in then" Yoongi said thoughtfully.

"But the catch here is.." Jungkook began, "If you heard Tannie then you should have heard the sound of the attack too right?"

"Hmm maybe the Tannie part was my dream, I don't know" Taehyung answered helplessly. "It really does look like it was me, doesn't it?"

"I'll be honest with you, it does. But, you have no motive and no reason to be angry" Yoongi answered.

"But since it was behind close doors they can pin it on some argument or fight you both mught have had." Jungkook spoke and Yoongi nodded in agreement.

"So what do I do?" Taehyung was nervous.

"Nothing for now. Stay put but think about anything you could remember, but make sure it doesn't take a toll on you Tae. We're hoping to find clues so don't worry" Jungkook smiled at Taehyung.

"Yes thanks for coming in, Taehyung"

"I trust you to prove my innocence but I need you both to know that I am really innocent. Detectives, I did not kill Jihoon. Sure I wanted to break up but kill? No way! You have to believe me" Taehyung exclaimed with tears threatening to escape his eyes.

"I believe you, Taehyung." Jungkook spoke with a reassuring look.

Taehyung wiped his tears and bowed to the detectives before leaving.

"Do you believe him?" Jungkook asked Yoongi.

"I don't think he killed Jihoon but I can't believe him until i have solid proof to do so." Yoongi answered honestly.

"Fair enough. And that's why I need you on this case. To keep me unbiased"

"I know"
