blinking her eyes open to take in the dark room around her, jamie lifted her hands to her eyes, rubbing them with the heel of her palms. taking in a deep breath, she turned on her side facing away from the sleeping dani next to her, placing her feet on the cold ground. careful not to wake her, she lifted the covers off of her body and slid out of the bed.

stretching her arms above her head, she yawned as she made her way to their now shared dresser. reaching into the top drawer and grabbing an oversized shirt to throw on, she sat down at the white vanity against the wall. looking at herself in the dirty mirror, she reached above her to turn on the dim lamp so she could have a bit of light. the sun had not yet risen, jamie preferred waking up before the sun. it made her feel accomplished for some reason she would never completely understand.

minutes passed as she got ready, trying still to not wake dani from her seemingly peaceful and deep slumber. sitting on the corner of the bed, she slid on her dirty old work boots that she'd had for years now, a gift from an old friend. tying the worn laces together loosely around her ankle, she stood up and walked over to dani's side of the bed. looking at her gentle features under the dim light of the room was one of her morning routines now, which always ended with her bending down and placing a small kiss on her forehead before she slid out of their room and made her way down to the greenhouse.

walking to the greenhouse was her favorite part, hearing the birds and frogs sing as she stepped on the dewy grass was a sound that had always been comforting to her. entering the glass building that housed all of her beloved plants, she inhaled the scent of the room. a natural fragrance that jamie always found herself smelling like, a smell that dani had come to love. plugging in a strand of lights into the only outlet of the whole building, small little lightbulbs illuminated to life on the ceiling above her.

turning to go back outside the door of the greenhouse, she sat in the chair that was positioned by the doorway facing the manor. watching the sun come up against the horizon and illustrate the sky in an array of yellows and pinks. jamie enjoyed being alone with her thoughts to start the day, she often found that it helped her become more focused on whatever tasks she may have to do throughout the day.

watching as the sun slowly crept up into the sky, she stood up and made her way back inside to begin tending to her plants. turning on a hose , she gently doused the rows of plants in the cold water, making sure to be careful to not overwater them. every morning was the same, the same routine repeated ever since she'd began sleeping at the manor during the nights. she preferred it this way honestly, instead of waking up dreadfully early and having to drive to the countryside from her flat in town. living in the city did have its perks though, mainly being close to all the shops and restaurants. but, if she had to pick, she would pick living in the manor with dani with no hesitation.

jamie knew dani and herself wouldn't always live at the manor though, sooner or later they would move on from this lifestyle and begin the life where they'll always be together.

she often daydreamed of what their life would look like beyond the manor, would they travel? brief conversations have been sparked up of dani wanting to bring jamie back to america and show her where she grew up, and jamie liked that idea. maybe they would settle down in a little house, maybe on a beach or in a bustling city. she had no idea, but she knew as long as she was with dani, she would be happy and content with  wherever life ended up taking her.

time went on as jamie attended to her plants, trimming their leaves and repotting a few of them. the sun was up now, the sky a light shade of blue speckled with a few white clouds.

hearing a small knock at the entrance to the greenhouse, she turned to see dani with two cups of coffee. "good morning." jamie said, smiling and sliding off her dirt-covered gloves.

"morning to you too," dani chuckled, handing jamie the piping cup of coffee and planting a small kiss on her cheek. "how long have you been up?"

"oh, not that long. an hour or so. you know i like to come out here and watch the sunrise." jamie said, blowing the steam off of her coffee before taking a sip.

dani yawned, obviously not completely awake yet. "i don't know how you do it. i can barely function waking up this early."

"you get used to it, your body gets into a kind of routine, y'know?"

dani shrugged, "whatever works for you," she smiled. "i should probably go wake the kids up, i just wanted to bring you your coffee."

"you go on, i'll be come in in a bit for breakfast." jamie responded, putting her cup down and sliding her gloves back on as she watched dani leave the building and start her walk back across the yard to the manor. focusing her attention back to the small holly bush she was in the middle of trimming the excess roots of before dani arrived, cutting the few unneeded or dead roots away from the healthy plant with her shears.
