HS's POV
The bright light from the morning sun was slipping through the black curtains of Min Ho's bedroom, making my bleary eyes squint. I stretched my arms and legs over the bed, rolling to the other side to wrap an arm around Min Ho. Instead of his body, I found my arm around a pillow under the warm and thick duvet. Furrowing my eyebrows, I scoured the room to where he might be until my head turned up slowly to the side table of the bed where my phone was sitting. I reached my hand to it and snapped it on. My phone told me it was already nearly afternoon. I scratched my head as I thought it was still 7:00 in the morning. Unlocking my phone to home screen, a note welcomed me.
'Tae Yang will not get you off the hook when you come back home. Breakfast is ready on the table by the way ^^.'
A short laughter left my lips at what I had imagined. Clamping my hands over my ears would be a safe move to get away from Tae Yang's babbling when I get home which I decided to do once our maximum 12-hour-alone-together moment passed by.
Washing my face and brushing my teeth took me only five minutes before I walked out the bedroom and trudged into the kitchen. I stopped by the dining table where a plate of pancakes was served with melted butter and maple syrup glazed over the layers and an empty mug where a small package of cereal drink was inserted onto it. This would be the first time I'm going to taste his non-Korean food, I thought to myself, though pancakes sound too easy to make. I tore the sachet of the cereal drink and poured it into the mug. I marched over the thermos on the kitchen counter for the hot water when I noticed the trash bin at the corner where only the half of a blue carton was negligently chucked into its rim. Picking it up, I was almost impressed having known that Min Ho made an effort to cook me pancakes as breakfast but after reading the label on the carton, I realized the food was only ready-made from the box. Returning it back to the bin, I shook my head and chuckled to myself- I have mistaken.
I moved back to the dining table and pulled the chair to start my breakfast. Picking up the fork, I jabbed it into the soft pancake then scraped the piece of it over the glaze of butter and maple syrup before taking the forkful into my mouth. Kamja appeared from nowhere, trotting towards me.
"Good morning, Kamja!" I chirped, scratching him behind his ears. "Do you know where Min Ho has gone for?"
He began to move closer to me before he climbed up onto my legs. Hestuck his tongue out as if he wants to join me on eating. "You hungry?"
I reached for a slice of wheat bread in the breadbox and broke it into pieces before taking it to him one by one. After which, he started to chow them down hungrily as he leapt away from my legs. "Min Ho ka eodisseo? (Where's Min Ho?)" I asked again as if I was talking to another human.
Once more, he jumped onto my legs when he already had devoured what I just gave him, asking for another piece of bread again. "Aigoo, do Ihave to bribe you before you answer me? Ha, Kamja-ssi? Mal hae (Tell me). Min Ho ka eodisseo (Where is Min Ho)? Will he be out for long?"
My prattling was cut short ii the buzzer from the door came on. Who might it be? It couldn't be Min Ho since he knows the security passcode himself. It also couldn't be eomeonim (Min Ho's mom) since he told me, she would staying in Busan with Eun Jae noona for a week.
Only Min Ho and eomeonim know the passcode. Standing up from my seat, I jogged towards the door to check it on the monitor before opening it. I held my breath in anticipation. No other people should see me here alone. When Sam Dong's wary face entered in my vision on the small screen, peering through his dark sunglasses he's holding just up to his forehead, I reached for the door to unlock it and cautiously winged it open enough for him. Just as I did, he quickly hastened inside before he nudged the door closed with his foot. It was understandable that he was wearing layers over layers of clothes and sweater plus the mittens and thick bonnet caused by the chill weather;except that a baby carrier was slinging over his shoulders up in front of him. When he whipped the heaving sheet off it, to my surprise, a two-year old little baby was in it, fiddling the small milk bottle in his mouth with his tiny fists.
