xx. Us Against the World
HS's POV
'I am also entitled to have friends even outside the entertainment circle.'
This was only Min Ho's clichéd answer to every question the media pressed to him under the spotlight. Their attempts have been in vain in digging holes themselves into the milking rumor that we are an item. They were like dead hungry carnivores hounding us for food. It was known to me when Min Ho talked to me about it. I had predicted that that day seemed to be just around the corner because it was something you couldn't avoid. But I didn't know it'd happened so soon, consideribg that we took double cautions. That's one of the perks of being in love with a celebrity, I reckoned.
Tree S refused to make our relationship disclosed in public.
According to them, it will just cause utter ruckus over his reputation, especially from fans.
"You got to do some image control. Deny whatever's behind your relationship. This is the only way to protect your image against these issues," warned Tree S to him.
It had reached to Manolin too but it came different from them.
"We don't want to be such an interference with whatever is going on between the two of you but as long as you think you're not stepping onto anybody, it'll be fine. Just take care of yourself," our executive Director told me. Manolin has been a family to me. They always provide me guidance and genuine love like a family does. I have considered them as my great mentor in my life.
We really didn't have a choice. We fell in love only to discover that the prescriptions left out a few important details necessary to make our relationship work. Adversity is what we had to go through. That's what life has never missed to offer before living out in pure happiness.
"Kwaenchana (Are you okay)?" I asked, concerned. Min Ho and I were walking side by side somewhere away from media dodging situation. We were far off Seoul, at Chungcheongdo—my hometown where my parents are living in, though my father left to Macau.
He turned to me and smiled, a faltering one before he nodded, barely bobbing his head. He was obviously not okay.
Regaining his composure, he said, feigning a sigh. "Have nothing to worry about anything was always this freeing."
"Keureoge (It seems so)."
At one point, as we were walking, without any warning, MH took my hand. It was only for a few seconds. I felt a rush of adrenaline.
'What if we get caught?' it crossed my mind.
"Remember what I told you back the second time we bumped to each other in Japan?" I said and looked at him smugly. "I once told you, you can't disguise forever, same as a mask that couldn't be worn all the time. Can't you remember?"
"I now surrender for declaring myself an expert sneaker," he said. A grin broke out his face.
He held my hand again, stared at me. That look in his eyes said to not worry a thing. We looked up the sky, watching silently.
"I just wished we're like those birds, living out everywhere, flying freely in the calm sky," I said while breathing in the fresh air surrounding us.
"I'm sorry," he said. I turned my head back to him when I saw him looking very despondent.
I squeezed his hand, tangled into mine. "You haven't done anything wrong."
"This must be hard for you."
"I should be the one saying that," I freed my hand from his, holding it up beneath his chin, making him to look at me again. "I'm okay," I assured him with a half-smile.
