" Abbu aapne Shahbaaz Chachu se baat ki? Abu Bakr keh raha tha Zafiraa ki Nani beemaar hain" Saifaan asked his father the next day as they were leaving for work.
" Ha bataya usne mujhe ki Abu aur Zafiraa ka Nikaah dou haftey mein karnein ka soch rahe hain" Bakhtaawar wore his shoes and waited for his son to wear his.
" Dou hafton mein saari tayyari hou paayegi?" Saifaan asked worriedly and even Bakhtaawar looked thoughtful.
" Saath milkar karenge toh In Shaa Allah hou jaayega" Bakhtaawar walked down the steps and washed his hands in the tub.
" Aaj se hi shuru karna chahiye phir. Main shaam mein mil aata hoon Chachu se. Bookings bhi toh decide karni hogi" Saifaan washed his hands as his father poured water over them and agreed to what he was saying.
Just as he opened the gate, Saifaan was greeted by the person of his interest lately.
" Podina aur dhaniya toh muft mein aata hain na? Aap iska bhi dus rupye lenge! Astaghfirullah!" Sohai argued with the vegetable vendor and Saifaan shook his head at her.
" Nahi maine ek rupye bhi zyaada nahi dena hain tamataro ka. Aap agar dhaniya muft mein dein toh alag baat hain..." She bargained loudly unaware of his eyes on her.
" Har kisise behas karni hoti hain isne" Saifaan smiled fondly at the girl and Bakhtaawar's eyes grew wider at that.
Did they miss something?
" Sohai, Abbu agency par chalein gaye?" Bakhtaawar asked the girl who gave him a big smile, momentarily forgetting her vegetables.
" Jee Chachu, Abbu aaj subah hi gaye hain. Unhe dopahar mein jaldi wapas aana hain, unke dost aarahe hain shayad" Sohai informed him, unaware of the storm that brewed in someone's eyes.
Saifaan huffed irritatedly. How could he forget that idiot Rizwaan!
" Abbu se kehna shaam mein milkar sab decide karna hain toh Haroon aur Sahil Chachu ko bhi ek dafaa call karlein" Bakhtaawar reminded her and patted her head as he sat behind his son.
" Jee Chachu" she beamed at him and the vendor has packed her vegetables by then.
" Allah'Fiz Chachu" she purposely ignored Saifaan all the time, too mad at him for last night.
How dare he go off on her like that? Especially when she didn't even know what was wrong!
" Aur iss bechaarey ka zyaada damaagh nahi khaao, kamaskam isse baksh dou apni bakwaas se" Saifaan taunted her and smirked when she went red in fury.
" Jaahil aadmi" she muttered under her breath as she saw them riding away.
" Aye aap wapas iska wazan karein. Yeh mujhe ek kilo nahi lag raha hain" Sohai kept the bag of tomatoes back on the weighing scale and it was just a gram shy of one kilogram.
She sneakily put in some dhaniya and podina on the scale and sure enough it was a whole kilo!
" Dekha, maine kaha tha na dhaniya podina muft mein hi aata hain" Sohai paid the man off and walked back in with a cheeky smile.
" Tum phir sabzi wale se lad padi?" Aafiya shook her head at her daughter who just winked at her while washing the vegetables before storing them.
" Maza aata hain Ammi" Sohai laughed when her mother hit her head playfully.
" Yeh kya bana rahe hain aap?" She peeped over her mother's shoulder and looked inside the pot.
" Khatti meethi dal" Aafiya kissed her head from the side and smiled when her daughter just hugged her from behind.
