Thirty-Four:
Gedeon
"Alright, this place should be a good spot for you and Anastasia to stay at until this is all over," I stated, looking around the small condo. It was one of the many penthouses I owned in the city, which was perfect with guards all over the building. Not to mention, there was no entry into our floor unless they had key access.
Something I made sure only I had.
Located on the fifth-ninth floor, it overlooked Manhattan. It was modern, sleek, and up to date with the latest technology too. Each piece of furniture costing close to six digits each was arranged to face the open gray stone fireplace. A TV hung over it, along with pieces of original panting decorating the place. In all honesty, I preferred Ophelia's shady basement makeshift bedrooms than this. It felt too foreign anyways.
I usually hated staying in the city, but it was the next best bet of keeping Dove and Anastasia safe until this was all over. Anastasia squealed, causing everyone in proximity to wince as she darts to explore. "This is amazing. How come you never told me you had property here? I would love to live here instead."
"Yeah not happening sis," Aleksei rolled his eyes, ignoring her pouting. "This is all just temporary, so don't get too comfortable."
"Hey, who knows. Maybe one day, I'll move here," she stuck out her tongue in retaliation before darting to one of the three rooms with Aleksei following her. Timor and Nicolai started to ransack through the liquor cabinets with Lizabeta inspecting the place.
I glance down to see Dove looking around timidly. I guess she wasn't used to new places and my heart clenched to see that. Besides Mateo's place and mine, she never ad the chance to explore outside of her little cage. She stayed glued to my side like a caged animal. Her tiny hands balled around the back of my suit like it was her safety blanket.
When her eyes connected with mine, I extended out my hand for her. "Let me give you a tour."
Since that night one week ago, Dove and I had been sleeping in the same bed every night. Not only that, but we couldn't get our hands off each other whenever we were alone. I'll slowly teach her body what pleasure was. If she even flinched or looked uncomfortable, I would call her a good girl for taking it so well, something she loved and always seemed to snap her back to reality from the depth of her hell in her mind.
Yet, what did that make us?
I had no idea. We never talked about it. But for one week, she had yet to bring up challenging me in a game of chess for her freedom. I could only hope that meant something.
Yet, there was something that felt off with Dove. Like she was hiding something.
Every time I talked to her, it was as if she wanted to say something but would stop.
"Are you okay, Precious?" I frowned when she didn't take my hand.
Her eyes widened slightly and then reached for my hand. "Sorry, I'm not used to just how extravagant this place is. Or how crowded the city looks."
Glad to see we were both on the same page.
I guess when you grew up in the countryside with
"It's only temporary and you won't be leaving here anyway," I reminded her. It's been more than clear that I couldn't let Dove or Anastasia in that estate while I was gone. Though it was heavily guarded, I wasn't the one to take any risks. She followed me to the second floor of the penthouse to the biggest room was, but not before stopping in front of the huge one-sided open paneled windows. It overlooked the city nightlife perfectly. Though it was beautiful, my eyes were only focused on hers. "Do you not like how crowded the city is?"
