Evelyn and James had met as babies, both having been born on the same day. Evelyn's mother, Rose, her aunt Susie, and James' mother, Euphemia, had grown up together, hoping their children would be friends as well.
A dent was put in their plans when it was realized that Susie was unable to bear children, a problem that couldn't be fixed by magic. Euphemia had problems bearing a child, but she had still managed it in the long run. Rose didn't have any issues, but she didn't want to have children if her best friend and sister didn't.
But, by some miracle, Euphemia and Rose managed to both get pregnant and have both of their children be born on the same day.
Susie lived next door to the Potters, giving Evelyn a place to stay when she visited James. Susie had always wanted a child, but her wish came true with a price, one which usually made her regret ever wanting a child of her own.
At the age of three, Evelyn's parents were murdered while she was with the Potters. No one ever knew who did it and Susie and her husband Rob, got custody of Evelyn.
Susie blamed herself first for the death of her sister, but then the guilt was weighing down on her so she needed someone else to pin the blame on. This led to her blaming Evelyn, and treating her horribly for it. Susie had become a terrible woman and no one ever saw it except for Evelyn and her husband.
Evelyn was beat and tortured by her aunt, having to hide any symptoms of pain outside of the house. Her escapes were usually with her neighbor and best friend, James, or in the woods behind their houses in the dandelion field.
About a year before they began school at Hogwarts, Evelyn had felt a weird feeling around James, one that she wasn't able to place until third year. But, she may have come to her realization too late.
James was infatuated with her other best friend, Lily Evans. Evelyn watched as he pined over her, day in and day out. She found comfort and consolation in people like Leo and Remus, Leo providing advice and a distraction, Remus providing a shoulder to cry on and words of comfort.
Although Evelyn wasn't in the same house as the other Marauders, she was one of them. She was snuck into the Gryffindor common room constantly and was welcome there, despite her house. By her seventh year, Evelyn believed she had her crush on James under control.
But what happens when he becomes head boy and she becomes head girl, forcing them to share living quarters? ———
