Tommy arrived back home with Niki, both sad they had to leave but excited for the next visit. Tommy turned to Niki and asked, “Did mom almost die once?” Niki was taken aback by the question and Tommy mentally cursed himself about how blunt he was. Niki laughed sadly, responding with, “Yeah. A long time ago, but she was saved by an enderman.” Tommy nodded, he pulled out his book and said, “Did mom ever try to save someone else?” Niki looked at the book, reading the title and slowly responding, “Yeah... A boy, I couldn’t remember his name.. Somebody, I can’t remember who. She felt responsible for his death.” Niki took the book away from him, skimming the summary page as quickly as possible. “Are you suggesting.. That Kate, your mom, was cursed?” Tommy nodded slowly, turning to the castle gate and sighing, “She might be happy like that, but she will continue to come to harm. It’s dangerous for her to be in that.. Form. She has been attacked here, so why couldn’t she be attacked later for looking like what she does.” Niki nodded, sighing as she slowly added, “And... I’m sure this is what she has, I remember when she changed, it was terrifying.” Niki tried to lighten the mood, telling a few jokes and talking about the next visit.
Tommy didn’t mean to leave the book on the table for his mother to find. In all honesty, he swore on his life that it was left in his room. So now, he was being questioned about it by his mother. No matter how many times the boy tried to butt in and explain everything, it never worked. “Now,” His mother sighed, a confused look on her face, “Explain.” Tommy took a deep breath, as he asked, “Read it,” His mother raised an eyebrow, Tommy muttered a quick, “Please..?”
It took a little convincing, but he explained what he wanted to try and do. There was a chapter in changing her back to a human, and him. “I.. You know I love you,” Kate started, Tommy stopped himself from rolling his eyes, “But this is a risk we can’t take-” “You mean, you won’t take.” The two stared at each other, Kate sighed and quietly let out, “Look, if you’d like to try it... You can.” Tommy smiled brightly, and took the book out of Kate’s hands, “Thank you so much! If it works on me, it has to work on you!” Kate let out a small laugh, “Yeah, yeah… Even if I don’t agree with it, I might. But if it doesn’t work, and you die on me..” Tommy smiled, waving his mother off as he walked back to his room to do some reading.
Opening the book, Tommy sat at his desk when he felt a sense of Deja Vu... He’s been here, yet he never was. Tommy shook it off, he probably sat at a desk before with a book. Tommy opened the book, skimming the table of contents for what would be the curse he fell under. The Ender Dragon curse.
The Ender Dragon Curse is one of pure luck. The only way to fix the curse is to slay the person cursed. They must be slain by a netherite blade, if they hold a totem or not is up to the person.
That’s all he needed to hear, or read. Tommy was preparing for his next visit to L’manberg and had to figure out how to get a totem. They were rare, but one had been used on him before, so someone has access to them. He just needed to find out who.
