"Lily, dont tell me you were with him, please."Severus asked Lily in a way that made Lily feel very uncomfortable, he had a way of doing that lately, that is making her uncomfortable. Lily didnt want to answer, but she knew that she would have to, shed feel awful if she didnt.
"What's wrong with me being with him? He's in my house and he's not that bad after all. Your loathing of him needs to stop, I don't understand it really, he's changed and you can't see that. His friends aren't bad either, their becoming my friends and I'm not upset about it, they're nice, honest people."
"But why them? You're so blinded by your adoration for Potter that you can't see that they're poisoning you. They're getting you close to them and then they will just hurt you, I don't want to see you hurt," Severus was really getting on her nerves now, she was happy and he was just too blinded by jealousy.
"I'm not in love with James, they wouldn't hurt me if they could help it, if anyone is going to hurt me, it's going to be you," Severus looked confused for a moment, wondering what she meant by that.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean that you never really spend time with me anymore, I try to connect with you and you just push me out of your life. Your Slytherin friends are having a horrible influence on you, so don't go complaining about my choice of friends, if anything, I should be complaining about yours. Why do you even care? Why should you? We're really drifting apart and I think that we should just spend some time apart, I don't think we should be friends anymore."
"I don't think that we should be friends anymore either, I want more," Lily looked confused, she didn't know how to comprehend what was happening.
"W-what d-do you mean by that?" Lily asked, now feeling more unsafe and insecure than she had ever felt.
"I want us to be more than friends, I want you to be my girlfriend," Lily looked shocked and disgusted, she couldn't believe what she was about to do, if you'd asked her at the beginning of the day if this was going to happen she would've answered with a definite "no".
Without really thinking about it Lily punched him in the nose, Snape grabbed his nose and starting screeching with pain.
James was walking around the corridors by himself, just wandering doing his rounds, when he saw Lily with Snape. He watched them for a while just to make sure that Lily would be alright, he was glad that he did because when he saw that she had punched him, he had never been prouder. He might've been Head Boy, but he felt so good to watch the Head Girl punch Snape, just like he had deserved it over all the years. Especially over the last few years he had been awful to Lily, and she was finally giving him what he had been giving her all of those years.
James jogged up to where Lily was.
"What happened here?" James asked even though he knew what had happened, he had always felt that Snape was extremely creepy towards Lily and that he deserved to be punched back into reality. He needed to know that he couldn't mistreat her for so many years and just expect to be her boyfriend, Lily deserved better than him.
"Oh nothing," Lily said before running away.
"I know what happened here Snape, and she would never date you, you need to take a look at how you've treated her and then stop wondering why she rejected you. You know that I care about her and you know that I'm not good enough for her, I'm not going to fight that statement, because I know that it's true. She doesn't owe you or me anything, she is free to make her own decisions and you need to respect that, she's been so patient with you, yet you still treat her like crap. Lily deserves the world, think about that," with that James ran away to go and find Lily.
