Sunny took another bite of the omelette Hero made for him. He hasn't eaten much before but it feels like every passing day he finds enough strength to stomach more food.
"I'm glad you really like it." Hero places down a cup of water with ice and puts down 4 tablets. "After you're done eating, swallow these antibiotics."
Sunny nodded and smiled at Hero, making Hero content.
"How's college?"
"It's been difficult but I've been toughing it out. My professors are understanding so they gave me a week of breather to catch up with all of you after I explained the situation, plus I get to help you in place of my internship." Hero patted Sunny's head.
"Gotta keep on eating, you don't want to fall behind on your medication."
Sunny nodded, smiling into each and every savory bite.
After Sunny finished eating and taking his medication some nurses came in with his mother.
Sunny's mother rushed to her son and hugged him, tears bawling out of her eyes.
Hero quietly walked over to the nurses.
"How is Sunny's condition?"
"Partial blindness. We tried to save his vision but at the very least if we get him a nice pair of glasses and keep on providing antibiotics he should be able to function normally and be able to operate without needing handicap needs."
Hero nodded, happy that Sunny is on the road of recovery. He felt tapping on his shoulder and turned around. Sunny's mom urged him to walk to out of the room. "Alright."
Hero looked over to Sunny and waved as he left the room.
=====
"Hero.. thank you for watching over my son. I don't know what I would've done if I lost my son. I love him so much. He's everything to me."
Hero walked over and gave Sunny's mom a hug to let her collect herself.
"Sunny always tells me he's alright but I know he isn't... I figured out that moving would help him but now I'm conflicted due to this."
"If it ever becomes overbearing, try to relieve yourself by knowing my family will always help you out if you're in need for anything."
Sunny's mother nodded and wiped away her tears with a napkin.
"I need to tell you something. It's about my daughter and Sunny. It wasn't a sui-"
"I know."
Her eyes went into shock due to the fact she has shelved in the truth for so long and now when she can finally unbottle it, someone knows and can grieve with her.
"Sunny told me 2 days ago. I'm still taking in the truth and coping with what I know but I know he feels so much guilt over it." Hero calmed himself down from feeling over pressured from the wave of negative emotions. He paused and let her continue.
"I'm still incredibly angry and frustrated after so long that it's getting harder and harder to take care of him but I know deep down that he also isn't taking care of himself and that I would let down myself and my family if I didn't fulfill my role as a mother...
In fact, I'll take your offer for asking for help."
Hero nodded and smiled.
"Alright what do you need?"
=====
"Sunny are you ready?"
Sunny plopped on his shoes and took a bunch of deep breathes. He was very anxious but he already took so many strides that he knew he can't slow down.
He adjusted his black eye patch and looked over to his room before leaving.
So many flowers. I know I'm not alone. I'm sure Mari feels happy when we gave her flowers eariler...
The door swung open with brute force.
"Sunny!! Come on!" Kel grinned.
"I'm not going to let you make me sit here knocking on your door all day like before."
Sunny smiled, following Kel out of the hospital. They took it slow, making sure to pace themselves. "So did you hear about any surprises??"
"...? Nooo..?"
Kel's eyes grinned and sparkled.
"Ooooo! I get to be the one to reveal the surprise!! I'm lucky~!"
Kel started to skip around Sunny as they made their way to the elevator. As they got in Sunny couldn't wait any longer.
"What's the surprise Kel?"
Kel began to giggle more and more as the elevator went from the 13th floor to the 1st floor, his excitement contagious to Sunny.
"Well....."
As the elevator doors opened, Kel's and Hero's family was all there waiting for them.
"You will be staying with us for a month before moving!! Suuuurprise!!!"
Sunny's mouth was agape. He couldn't believe it.
A whole month to spend time with them.. and they know everything... and they don't hate me... and they want me there.
Sunny went silent. Kel awkwardly whistled and waiting for Sunny to say something.
"Sunnnnnny...? Hello...? Earth to Sunny??"
As Kel waved his hand in front of Sunny and looked over at his face and saw Sunny crying.
"Aweee I'm glad you're really happy!"
Kel's mom perched up and hugged Sunny.
"I'll make sure you get a nice tan though! My goodness! you're pale as paper."
=====
Sunny's mom sat in her car, driving to her new home, sighing. She thought to herself on how she'll cope. "Maybe I should go on vacation or maybe make new friends..? I can't take care of someone if I can't take care of myself..."
=====
Aubrey hung out with Kim, looking at a bunch of cameras.
"Alright Aubrey... imma be honest. I don't even see a difference in any of these."
"Ughh... there's gotta be a way to know which one would be perfect for him..."
Kim smirked and nudged Aubrey with her elbow. "Sooooo... you got a crush on Basil...?" Aubrey looked at Kim deadpanned. "Nope. Just want to get him something nice." Kim sighed. "Not in a teasing mood, well that's alright." They looked and looked until they found one that looked sleek. "Hey Aubrey what about this one?" "...." Aubrey picked up the camera. "Hmm Omori. I didn't know that this music brand also made electronics. I think this one is a good pick though. If the piano quality is good this will probably be good to last Basil till the end of high school."
Kim nodded and looked over to the price. "70 bucks." Aubrey's face scrunched up but she still went over to the counter with the camera, visible pain as she handed over her money to the cashier.
Kim chuckled and handed her twenty bucks.
"Here have this if you're worried about your hair."
Aubrey's face rose up and she hugged Kim. "Thank you- thank you- thank you—!"
She rushed over and grabbed purple hair dye. "Purple?"
"Yup. I gotta change up things now and again."
