~Blake~

The past 6 months went by painfully slow. Tori, Bea, and everyone else have been going on small missions throughout nearby states in order to find information on Elizabeth's clan. Everyone insists that it's too dangerous for me to go on a mission, so I've been stuck in the pack-house with Raven and Penelope looking through the logistical side of the mission.

I admit, there was something rewarding about being the brains of the operation and putting together the pieces of information Tori brought back, but then there was the dull side where we would wait for days for them to return before we could do anything else. We also ran into a lot of dead ends with the information we were given, forcing us to start from scratch multiple times.

Something I found ironic was how I've technically been part of the pack for half a year and I haven't been taught the first thing about fighting and self-defense. It angered me to an extent, but I also couldn't expect anyone to take time out of their busy schedule to teach some human basic self-defense.

On top of that, I was the only person in the pack who had a curfew. Every day, I had to be back home before dinner or else I'd be grounded, and I was no help to anyone if I was stuck in my room all week. So, having to go to school from 8 am - 3 pm and having to be home by dinner really didn't give me much time to help out, which is how I've ended up spending all of my nights at the pack-house.

"I'm honestly surprised that you're still sane." Raven chuckled as she flipped through one of her spell books. It was 3 in the morning and both of us were running off of espresso shots and energy drinks as we looked into the latest mission.

"I guess being crazy just doesn't fit into my schedule." I joked as I crossed off a location on our giant map of North America. I said it as a joke, but it was truer than I was willing to admit. I've never been more busy in my life, which was both a good and a bad thing. I was too busy to let my issues and crippling anxieties roam in my mind for too long, but I was also too busy to have a social life or to take a break. Needless to say, my social status at school has crumbled, but most people assumed it's because of Riley and Jake's disappearance, which is more correct than I'm willing to give them credit for... minus the Jake part.

Jake has been missing even longer than Riley. The last anyone has seen of him was at his Halloween party, but even then, he disappeared midway through it. It was never really something that concerned me, but apparently it was the only thing the school would talk about for months. There were theories that Riley and Jake ran away together and there were others that Jake killed Riley and was on the run.  On top of that, everyone thought that I knew something about it, which only made things worse.

"Any summer plans?" Raven asked sarcastically. It became a thing between us where we pretended like we lived normal lives and planned stuff for our breaks from school.

"I've always wanted to see The Great Wall of China." I thought out loud as I sat back down at the table.

"What, were The Pyramids of Giza on your Christmas break not extravagant enough?" she joked.

I shrugged, "I like seeing the world." I said as a small smile grew on my face. Raven and I had grown pretty close since we started to work together, which was surprising to both of us. But what do you expect when you spend every night of the past 6 months with someone in a closed off library? Raven easily took the title of the person who knew the most about me. To be fair, the list of contenders wasn't very long, but she took honor in it anyway. "What about you?" I threw the question back.

She thought for a moment, "Honestly, all I need is a beach, some peace and quiet, and a giant TV to rot my brain with." she laughed. "I've been reading these damn books for way too long."
