A quiet and light breeze sweapt around the area. The tall, dark structure loomed over (Y/N), with the occasional afternoon sunlight hitting it and making the purple details embedded in the black material shine even brighter. The dark stones were formed in an oval like shape, with imperfections and cracks lining the inside of the slightly left leaning object. The oak forest that hid this dark yet ethereal structure was quiet, only echoing a few short birdsongs every so often.

Taking a step back, his boots hit something firm, a stronger, more heavier clank accompanying the action. His eyes quickly snapped to the strange spot in the ground, before giving it another light tap using his heel. There was definitely something hidden there, in the ground. (Y/N) didn't waste much time before he sweapt some of the dirt covering the object out of the way with his foot uncovering a wooden lid that looked as if it had been left there unattended for years. Curiously he slowly knelt down infron of the wooden object as he began to uncover more of it, being careful not to cause more damage to the already worn out materiel. As he sweapt off all the dirt, grime and different, smaller plants and grasses that had covered and overgrown the object throughout the years that it sat there abandoned, it became much clearer what this strange wooden thing had been. He was slowly able to make out the figure of a chest, although worn and damaged it still was recognizable. After digging around it a bit more he managed to reach around the sides and grab it. Slowly, but sternly he started lifting it out of the hole that it was left in, being careful not to drop it or break the already damaged wood.

The chest was light and easily to lift suggesting that there weren't many contents inside it, if any at all. (Y/N) placed the chest on the ground, now being able to look at the whole thing. He reached for the clip that was keeping the lid closed, curiously he lifted the clip and with a click the lock broke, the weakened material not being able to withstand the suddent movement. The chest was open, carefully he lifted the lid to reveal the contents of the chest. As predicted from it's weight it did not contain much, only a few pieces of coal, a heavily damaged Golden helmet and a flint and steel.

After looking back at the ominous dark structure then the chests contents it finally clicked for (Y/N). Remembering the contents of a certain book amongst the dozen more he had read at the nearby villages library. The book described these dark structures as portals to another realm, another dimension named the nether. Though his memories were blurry about what most of the book said he remember it describing the nether as a world of fire and restless souls that roam around looking for living beings to devour.

(Y/N) was suddenly snapped out if his thoughts by feeling something cold and wet lightly hit his (s/c) skin and quickly roll down his cheek. Coming back to reality he felt more raindrops hit his skin, and could hear the pitter-patter of the small water droplets pick up pace. He quickly pocketed the item that they found in the chest making sure not to break them while doing so.

Swiftly standing up, he was getting ready to trudge through the forest in an attempt to save himself from getting soaked in the now pouring rain. But before (Y/N) took his leave he spared one more glance at the portal that now, without the occasional streaks of sunlight hitting it had lost all the small purple pigments it held before. Turning around he began their walk through the oak forest, which, because of the rain, had now gone quiet. Only noises being the heavy, and speedy footsteps coming from (Y/N), the quiet noises the raindrops made when they came into contact with the leaves and the light chirps from birds trying to escape the rain.

The journey back didn't take long, by the time the sun began to set (Y/N) had already made it home. His mind was still clouded with thoughts of the mysterious portal in the middle of the woods and the mystical realm it was promised to lead to. On his way home he briefly saw the lights of the village in the distance and made a mental note to visit the library there to look for the book about the dark structure. Opening the door he quickly stepped inside the small, but cozy house. Though the forest provided cover for most of his trip back, the path to his house didn't have any trees  near it leading to (Y/N) being dripping wet from the rain by the time he made it home. He was completely drenched making his (h/c) hair stick to his face and making his clothing feel uncomfortable and cold. He hastily made his way to his bedroom to get a change of dry clothing while trying to not get too much water all over the wooden floor. On his way there he passed the barely lit fireplace in which the fire had already almost complete burned out, making the house colder then it was when they left.

With the new change of clothing also came solace. At this point the sun had already fully set making it night time, and with the darkness also came a comfortable silence. (Y/N) had already brought in more wood to start up the fire with again and bring back the welcoming warmth the house held when he left earlier today. The hushed noises of the fire crackling and the distance noises of crickets chirping created a cozy and loose environment in the house. (Y/N) had cooked potatoes for dinner and the crisp smell of the butter mixed with herbs still lingered around the house mixing with the smell of the fire and making the atmosphere even more tranquil. (Y/N)'s thoughts about the mysterious yet mystical looking portal still lingered in his head as his eyes slowly fluttered closed and as sleep lazily engulfed him.
