"Where do you plan on going?" Mia asked, fiddling with her fingers.

I sighed softly and shrugged my shoulders slowly, the humming of the tires relieving some stress and anxiety. She stopped at a red light, brushing the hair from my eyes.

"Anywhere but that dungeon," I retorted.

Mia agreed silently, inhaling deeply and turned to look at me. She shifted herself in the seat and clapped her hands together. My eyebrow arched and I turned to her, waiting for the light to turn green so we could keep moving.

"What if we went back?"

"Are you on crack?" I asked, my heart sinking to my stomach.

How could she say that?

"Maybe it wouldn't be so bad, we wouldn't have to go home. We couldn't have to worry about being unprotected–plus you haven't had a boyfriend at all and that Colby guy seemed pretty into you...for a mafia boss." Mia snickered.

I thought about it for a minute, she stayed stopped when the light turned green. Mia did have a point, I wouldn't have to go back to my own house, or have to worry about my grades slipping because of my alcohol "addiction." I cleared my throat and looked down at the piece of shit ford she was driving. Maybe she had a very good argument. I inhaled sharply and nodded, she backed the car up, parking it on side of the road and clipping the wires to make the car stop running.

We got out of the car, just as two cop cars pulled up beside us. I groaned lowly and watched them get out of the car. I put my hands up, looking at Mia who shook her head slowly. I felt the office grab my wrists and put my hands behind my back. The cold handcuffs clasped tightly against my wrist. He explained my rights, opening the back door and lowering my head to place me in the cop car. I sat on the cold leather seats, clenching my jaw as Mia was sat beside me. Usually, I don't like her getting involved with the cops as much as I do.

I watched as the cop got in the car and drove to the police station. I sighed softly, lowering my head in disappointment. By the time we got to the police station, I was fuming with anger and hatred. The two of us were shoved into a shared holding cell. I sat on the bench, leaning my back against the cold concrete wall and crossing my arms. I looked down at the denting on my wrists from the handcuffs.

"I should've moved a little quicker," I whispered to Mia.

"You think?" She spoke softly, a hint of attitude in her voice.

I chuckled, shaking my head and watching everyone else in the cell. Maybe we would be released the next morning.

The next morning came and I sat silently in the holding cell. My eyes scratchy and watery since i didn't sleep. Mia slept surprisingly peacefully. That woman could sleep anywhere...I heard the sound of voices coming from the office. Naturally I stood up to go eavesdrop on the conversation. When I couldn't pick out any of the voices, and only snippets of the conversation I sat back down. I looked up to see Colby standing outside the bars, my eyes rolling. Of course.

"They're with me, you can let them go," Colby said gently.

The first time I have heard his voice even remotely gentle. I stood up, kicking Mia's foot to wake her up. Mia snorted, wiping the drool from her mouth as she stood up beside me. I put my head down, slapping my palm against my forehead. Mia looked at me, confused for a minute then started to chuckle. I couldn't help but laugh at her, drool down the side of her face, hair bunched up into a messy bun. She was unbothered.

The cops let us go, Colby grabbing my arm then grabbing Mia's. He walked us out of the station, putting us in the back of the car. I sat silently, smelling fresh pancakes and maple syrup. Colby handed us styrofoam containers and a plastic fork. I looked at the fork, a grin spreading across my face. Colby rolled his eyes, snatching the fork away from me and handing me a spoon. I looked up at him, blinking. He grinned, winking at me and then turning back to keep his eyes on the road. Mia let out a gentle snicker. I sat there in disbelief, staring at the spoon.

"Did he just–"

"Shut up, Mia," I hissed.

Mia devoured the pancakes. At least someone was enjoying this "kidnapping" situation. She finished her pancakes, looking over to see if she could have some of mine. I handed her the container, shaking my head. I stared out the window, picking at the skin around my thumb nails.

Colby pulled up to a different house this time. I felt my heart drop to my stomach once again. It was nicer looking than the other house–just didn't realize he was moving locations.

"Where are we?" I asked.

"Your new home," Colby said.

I couldn't tell if that was sarcasm or if he was being serious. I nodded slowly and got out of the car once it was parked. Mia was more than happy to walk into the house unannounced. I slowly followed Colby inside the house, looking at the marbled flooring and crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. I cleared my throat uncomfortable, I have never been around someone with this much money–not even Mia. I chewed my bottom lip, looking at a closed door. As I walked over to it I felt someone staring at me. When I turned around Colby was staring at me. He quickly looked away. I opened the door to reveal a large library. This time I was drooling. It was so beautiful, i could stay there forever. I sighed, running my fingers along the spines of the books.

"I figured this house was more your taste," Colby said from behind me.

I jolted, spinning around to face him. I swallowed a large lump in my throat and slowly nodded my head.
