Monday.
Today is the day our hard work will pay off. Everyone is in chaos on the backstage finding everything they needed. Everyone was pumped up and excited on showing what they had rehearsed for a thousand time.
Everything is in chaos and organized at the same time. Everything is settled except for 2 things.
One, Carlo who plays Romeo is missing and two, Chelsea who plays Juliet is so intoxicated she can't even say her first line which is, 'My name is Juliet'.
And to top that Carlo's understudy is sick and Chelsea's understudy had to fly overseas because of her grandmother's funeral.
It was 15 minutes to 9 and the only solution everyone came to think was Cas doing Juliet and me doing Romeo which we happily took.
The makeup committee made their work and put Cas and I on the costume which fits perfectly. They even joked that it was really made for us and not them.
I will be on the first scene so we took our places and the narrator began.
"Romeo and Juliet, a classic tale of love. A classic tale of two people doing everything they could to be with each other. But this is not the Romeo and Juliet we all knew, let us watch the story of two people who is unfortunate to have those names. Those names that is cursed to have a tragic love story. Will they have the same fate?"
Then the curtains was held up and we began to act. It was nerve-racking to see lots of people watching you. I really focused on doing everything right and I gave my very best for this.
The curtains were down after my scene and there was a change in set to showcase Casper's scene next.
I watched her from the side of the stage to see that she is a natural in this. There was no hint of nervousness or fear. She did her best upon doing the scene that she was acting.
After her scene she ran to me and hugged me tight. I could feel her body tremble.
"This is so scary." She said.
"But you did great Cas. Hold on. We have to finish this to survive this."
She nodded and directed what to do when she is not on stage. She worked hard on being calm, cool and collected which some of us didn't do. Some of us were freaked out but they made sure that they executed everything just fine when they were on stage.
Halfway through the play, Carlo showed up. The crew turned him down upon saying he was ready. They told him that it was not fair and everyone saw me as Romeo from earlier.
He told the crew that he was sorry and walked out backstage pissed. I thought that he would be doing something bad but thankfully he didn't.
The play was going great. We were in the part that we actually fell in love with each other despite hating one another and hating the cliché that our names have but unlike the cliché stories, we didn't admit what we truly felt.
Everyone was having fun despite the fact it was really nerve racking. As we act our way to the final scene, Casper came to me and she was blushing. She pulled me into a place with few people around.
"Niall, I... I... uhm... I..." she trailed off.
"Psychopath." I teased her and gave her a smirk.
"What? No." she uttered while looking at me in the eyes and she was still blushing. "I have to tell you something very important Niall."
"What? you can tell me everything Casper." I answered her still having that grin on my face. I had not gotten over the psychopath thing.
"Niall, we will have a kissing scene on the last part of the play." She revealed. That made my grin grew small like it would disappear anytime now.
Oh yes. It really never occurred to me yet until now. I felt my checks heat up. Romeo and Juliet will have their cliché kiss at the end of the scene.
"Niall, the thing is," she let out a deep breath with closed eyes. She opened them again and looked intently unto me. Her blue hypnotic eyes could melt me from inside out. "I haven't kissed someone yet."
My heart leaped from my chest. It was nice to know that I'm getting Casper's first kiss and I was more nervous on doing the kiss than act in front of hundreds of people.
"Just putting all the cards in the table, do you want me not to do it?" I asked her. As appealing as getting her first kiss, I would not take it if she doesn't want it.
"We should do it Niall." She was determined.
"Okay." I sounded flat but inside out I was happy.
"Niall, Casper, the last scene is up. Go kill it. Goodluck." Anne said.
I looked at Casper and held her hands.
"We can do this Casper." I assured her.
Casper went into her positions and in a minute the curtain was up.
This is the scene that Romeo will ask Juliet to be her girlfriend and kiss at the end. The setting was in a playground. Casper was alone sitting on the swing.
She was wearing a short dress that was designed by Zayn. It was pretty bringing out the color of her eyes. She was mesmerizing. She was beyond words can explain.
I walked towards her with three white roses in my hands.
"Hey." I greeted her and she slowly looked up to see it was me.
"Hey Romeo. Why'd you want to meet up here of all places?" she asked.
"Uh, first of all these are for you." I handed her the roses.
She put the roses beneath her nose and smelt the rose. She smiled the sweetest smile I have ever seen and looked at me.
"Thanks Romeo. These are beautiful but why are you giving me this?"
"To answer your first question, I choose this place to meet because this is where we first met."
"So?"
"Well, the thing is, uhm... I don't know where I should start. This is a bit hard. Uhm, I know that we are friends and we always hang out with each other but lately I was feeling a bit more. I always wants to see you, I always want to hold you and lately I wanted you to be mine. This is a bit too early for all of this but I like you Juliet. I didn't know where or when it started but that isn't important right."
I dug into my pocket to get a ring. I kneeled down on her with one knee as if I was proposing.
"No. I know what you are thinking. I am not proposing for marriage." She looks kind of awed in the situation.
"This is a promise ring Juliet. I want you to be my girlfriend. This ring represents a promise that I would keep. A promise to love you every day. A promise that I wouldn't break." She was teary eyed by this time. Wow Casper is a good actress.
She held my face and kissed me. It was a chaste kiss. Normal brushing of lips to one another. Then we both stood up.
"Yes Romeo, I would love and thrilled to be your girlfriend." I put the ring on her and we hugged. I whispered her to follow my lead. This is the last part of the play and we have to do this until the curtains are down.
I held her face looking intently into her eyes. I kissed her taking the lead and she followed me. It was a long kiss because we waited for the curtains to close.
I felt her smile upon my lips. I don't know if it's because of the successful play or the moment we just had but for me it was both.
The curtains opened again for the actors and actress to take their final bow. We took the final bow and every one was clapping.
The play was a success and it was fun.
