it had been a couple days into their stay at jisung's grandmothers house. it had been a pretty enjoyable time so far. him and his grandmother spent a lot of time walking in the fields and talking.
they were now sat at the same bench from the first night, watching the sun set over the horizon. it was warm outside with a small breeze brushing against their skin.
at the moment, they were speaking about jisung. the past few days, he had been able to become more comfortable speaking to his grandmother about his sexuality. so they were able to share good conversations.
and jisung was thinking he was ready to express some feeling to her that he's kept bottled inside.
"nana..." jisung nearly whispered.
"hm?" she hummed to let him know she was listening.
"i... i need advice."
she turned to him with furrowed eyebrows, "okay.. what is it hun?"
jisung gulped down a pool of saliva, looking down at his feet and gripping on the end of his shirt.
"h-how... do y'know- w-when you like s..someone..?"
her eyes grew big for a second till a wave of realization settled into her mind. she knew where this was coming from.
from all their conversations for the past couple days, she's figured out that jisung had a soft spot for a certain person.
jisung constantly spoke of this person. all the conversations went back to the one name.
minho.
it had to be about minho, his grandmother thought. she could see the glimmer of light in his eyes whenever he spoke of a good memory with minho. the way jisung would slightly blush when remembering a moment that he was too shy to express in words. the small smile that stayed present whenever minho's name would walk past his lips.
"well.." she started, taking a deep breath, "when i was with your grandfather, it felt like my whole body was engulfed by warmth. every time we made eye contact, it was like i could watch the whole world and starry sky forever, just because it was through his eyes. everything that was dull and boring suddenly had become colorful and full of richness..." his grandmother smiled, thinking back on the memories she had made with her husband before he passed. a single tear fell down her face that she shakily wiped away, chuckling in place of the small amount of silence, "oh my.. i described love instead.... i guess i always just loved your grandfather from the moment i met him."
she looked over to jisung, seeing the boy had a confused look upon his face. he was looking down with furrowed eyebrows, fiddling with his shirt.
his grandmother was about to speak but jisung had abruptly stood from his spot on the bench. "i think i need to go to bed..." he leaned down and pressed a kiss on the woman's cheek, "goodnight nana. i love you."
"oh.. well goodnight sweetie, i love you too." she said, feeling a bit overwhelmed from the sudden burst of jisung getting up and leaving.
she watched the boy walk back through the field to the doors of the house. she let out a sigh and slumped her shoulders, looking up into the sky.
"i wish you were here to help him... your wise words would be really helpful about now honey.." she whispered out load, hoping the words would reach her husband in the stars.
—
jisung entered the room, that he luckily had to himself, and sat on the bed. he ran his fingers through his hair, slightly tugging at it in frustration.
