Maya's POV

I felt the a bright light shine on my face and I felt it's warmth against my skin. I slowly opened my eyes and the sunlight stung a little so I quickly shut my eyes.

However, now being awake, I felt an unfamiliar pain rise all throughout my body and images of last night flashed in my mind. I hugged my blanket tightly and had my eyes shut tightly. I felt so small, so inferior and so worthless.

"Maya?" a soft and gentle voice spoke behind me. My eyes jolted open, a bit startled I shuffled out of bed, holding the covers around my naked and bruised body to face Tiana, a maid I had met the other day.

I smiled at her as I put a loose strand of hair behind my ear while averting my gaze from here. I am almost positive she knew what happened, and that was enough to lower my gaze and hang my head in shame. "Hi.." I murmured.

"Sweetie, relax.." she placed a hand on my shoulder and gave me an assuring smile. "Go get freshened up and I'll set breakfast for you downstairs along with some painkillers, okay?"

I nodded and without another world and she left.

I got up and went inside the bathroom flicking the lights on as I entered. The first thing I did was peer at my reflection in the mirror.

Bruised and battered.

I had a line of hickeys trailing down my neck and collarbones. I had a few scratches on my sides and I looked completely worn out.

That was just one night. How will I be able to endure the rest of my time with him?

It's been four weeks since I'd last seen Mr.Malik...since that night.

I asked a few maids and bodyguards around here but they all told me it was none of my business and so I shrugged it off.

I was able to focus on my classes and it had been the most relaxing 4 weeks of my life.

I was finally caught up and was able to study well. I was being well fed, had an endless amount of clothing and had no bills to worry about. My life was perfect, just perfect.

The only thought that bothered me was the return of Mr. Malik. He had to come back at some point, this perfect lifestyle couldn't last forever.

I was currently reading my anthropology textbook. It wasn't required but it was interesting. I peered over at the look which read 7:30 P.M. I yawned and placed my textbook to the aside and pulled the covers off of me. I opened the door and headed downstairs.

I went inside the kitchen to see all the cooks and maids preparing food frantically. I had never seen them work this way. They looked stressed, nervous and in a hurry.

"Um..What's going on here?" I questioned quietly to Tiana who was plating appetizers.

"Hun, go to the dining table. We'll talk later." She said not looking up from the food in front of her.

"Okay.." I replied and let out a soft sigh as I exited the kitchen. I began playing with the ends of my long hair with my head down and began heading up the stairs.

"It's good to be back." a deep and gravelly voice yells. I stop at the top of the steps but then I quickly hide behind a pillar.

This voice, the one voice that sent shivers down my spine and made goosebumps run along my skin.

My pulse began racing, and my breathing became heavy. I peered through the pillar.

I could feel my heart sink and my stomach churn making me feel uneasy. All the events that happened that night started to flood my mind.

Mr. Malik was back. He was back to fulfill his part of the deal.
