The next few weeks saw more and more apologies to Harry Potter and more animosity to Wendy than ever before.
A fair number of people in the great hall had heard Hyacinth's outburst and just like Dumbledore felt that it was concrete proof. And though they left them alone for the fear of being attacked there were a lot of hushed whispers that followed, more words written outside Slytherin dorms and many a strange things left at their seats.
The teachers weren't able to maintain any sort of discipline as things became worse.
It had come to a point other Slytherins were being affected by it. You could hear them, the sobs of younger Slytherins late at night being comforted by the older members. You could see the older Slytherins, desperately trying to rub off the curse words at the entrance of their dorm. You could smell them, under lousy excuses of perfumes, full of sweat and burning cloth, from the last bit of 'mis-aim', because they no longer had the energy to maintain themselves. You could taste it in their water bottles to find medicines of injuries filled instead.
You could feel the anger that seeped through all of them at the whole school for villainizing them without proof. But they kept going on anyways because they had no one to fall back onto.
Despite everything though, they weren't angry at Wendy and her friends. They knew that being accused without proof wasn't their fault and anything they went through the three went through it worse. So they'd hide it infront of them as best as they could, (not that they fooled anyone) and even bring them all their work and food. Afterall exams were nearing and the Slytherin house could not fail.
Three days were left for the exams and once again the sixth years were waking up the NEWT and OWL students from the common room floor where they'd slept the night before. And that is how Snape found them the morning when he walked in.
It hurt him to see their condition but could do nothing with every student against them. Because not even detentions were working and on contacting parents they were the ones being scolded.
"Students," he said in his calm voice once the majority of them were awake. "I have some news for you." He saw some of the students tense up. "This will all be over tomorrow, the Mandrakes are ready to be harvested and the petrified students will wake up. Soon after they will be able to testify it wasn't one of us."
He left and soon after there were plates of food in front of them. The students cracked their first smile in weeks as they gobbled the food down, thanking the head of their house.
At mid morning though he was back, with a certain redhead in tow. He let the girl in and left the four to some alone time in ages.
The moment she saw them she rushed to engulf them in a hug, and broke down into large ugly sobs and told them something they couldn't believe.
"I think I am the heir." She said in a strange monotone voice and just after she did, she stood up and turned around walking out of the dorm.
They tried to call after her but there was no response. The three followed her out of the dorm only to find her not there. They ran up numerous flights of stairs until they found themselves in the grand staircase. Where they found her finally, as they raced after her. She stared at them for a moment before continuing on her way.
"Guys! I think I know where she is going. It's the scene of the first attack and the message."
The group nodded in agreement and took another route to the spot, led by Wendy.
And they saw Ginny there, just barely, writing another message on the wall.
Her skeleton will lie in the chamber forever.
