Cry A River

So go on and cry me a river
Don't say this will haunt you forever
It never did, it never will
Vows are not meant to be broken
You never cared for a moment
You never did, you never will

Now I know the truth about you
All you need I will deny you
I'll be damned to stay beside you

Mark was awakened by his phone ringing off the hook. He looked at the bedside clock and saw it was going on 6 AM. He rolled his eyes and grabbed his phone to answer. Of course, it was Victoria.

"Yeah," he said groggily.

"YOU'RE FILING FOR DIVORCE?!"

He was wide awake now.

"Yeah, you're surprised? All the shit you've been up to and you're surprised?"

"What shit have I been up to Mark? Deciding not to hug or kiss you from time to time? Jesus, it's okay to want space!"

"Great! Glad you're so understanding, see ya in court!"

"B-"

And he hung up the phone. She'd end up calling again, but in the meantime, he'd try to get a couple more hours of sleep. By the time he woke up again, there was a knock at the door. He figured it was Estelle coming to talk some more about the night before. He answered it and wanted to slam it back shut. If not for his kids, he would have.

"Daddy!"

Austen ran into Mark's legs and squeezed him tight. Pearson was still in Victoria's arms, asleep from their flight. Mark did his best to keep his anger masked as surprise, but he wanted to scream. He picked Austen up and stepped aside so Victoria and Pearson could come in.

"Hey Buddy! What are you guys doing here?"

"Mommy said we had to surprise you in New York because you didn't have to play today," Austen shrugged.

"Yeah hon, I thought we could spend the day together and catch your next show," she smiled.

"That's a great idea," he said through gritted teeth, "we'll find something to do."

Another knock on the door caught his attention and he went to answer it.

"Hey, just wanted to see if you wanted to go to Coney Island with us? Flip and Brian already said yes and Isabelle is gonna meet us there," Estelle smiled.

Mark didn't even get the chance to answer.

"Oh that's a great idea honey! The boys would love that," Victoria said as she crept up behind Mark, "I'm Victoria by the way, Mark's wife."

Mark cut his eyes at her as Estelle bit back a chuckle.

"Good to meet you, I'm Estelle. I play-"

"Right," Victoria said, cutting her off, "So Coney Island?"

"Girl, you must be outcho-"

"Hey Estelle!"

She was sweetly interrupted by Austen and she quickly changed her tone.

"Hey Austen! Long time, no see," she laughed.

"Yeah, I missed you, we gotta play again," he said.

"Me too! I can't wait-"

"Alright sweetie, go back in the room," Victoria said, faking a smile.

"But Mom!"

Victoria gave Austen a stern look and he pouted, but he obeyed her.
