You watched from across the room as Jessi took her seat across from the woman that would be interviewing her.

It's been a busy day for her. In fact, this entire week has been hectic. She's been on her feet a lot from doing interview after interview to live performances to photoshoots and more in celebration of her newest album.

Despite her lack of sleep, she's at her happiest currently. This seems to be the proudest she's ever been of her music, mostly because she's finally gotten the chance to share your relationship with the world and put a few songs she wrote about you on this newest album.

You've been tagging along with her for the day, just there for support and a reminder of how proud of her you truly are. You make sure she's staying hydrated and you can't keep yourself from smiling from the pride you feel for her.

As the interview began, Jessi waved to the cameras and that big, beautiful smile tugged at her lips. You swear that you fall even more in love with her every time you see it.

"Hi, Jessi," the interviewer grinned, obviously over the moon to be able to talk to Jessi, and you completely understood why.

Jessi spoke to her, just as enthusiastic.

"It's so nice to meet you. Congratulations on your album doing so well. It must feel so good to see people loving your music and being so supportive of your hard work and passion."

"It does, thank you." Jessi smiled and watched the lady stare down at the cards in her hand, questions from fans and staff written down on them.

"You seem very happy!"

"I am. It all feels so surreal right now and this is the very first time I've gotten to bring my girlfriend around with me for these things, and the first time I've been able to publicly talk about the music I've written about her. It all means the world to me, so I'm really happy."

"Oh, yeah, her." The lady mumbled, sort of wrinkling her nose in disgust over Jessi mentioning you.

Jessi furrowed her eyebrows, instantly scoffing over that look on the woman's face.

"Is there a problem?"

"No." The lady said, only to sigh a second later and put the cards face down on her lap to focus solely on Jessi, staring at her with a confused look on her face. "I just don't get what you see in her, that's all."

"Well, you don't have to. She's my girlfriend, not yours."

The interviewer scowled and looked at you from the corner of her eye with a sort of bitter expression, catching you off guard. You shifted uncomfortably on your feet, trying to shift your mind off of the eyes you could feel on you.

"I just think that you could do better."

Jessi's jaw dropped from this lady's audacity to be saying such absurd remarks.

"She seems to follow you everywhere. And people have a lot of opinions. You know how this industry works. Do you really think being so public with your relationship is such a good thing? And with someone like... her?"

Jessi looked over at you and watched you hang your head. She knew times like these were bound to come. Sadly, it's part of her life. People always think they have the right to speak about her and things in her life like this, like she cares what people might say or think; as if she's asking for their opinions.

But she promised herself when your relationship was revealed that she'd protect you at all costs.

From the hurtful things that were bound to come your way as an individual and as a couple.

From people that might be too invasive with things like their cameras in your face or their opinions on your loving relationship.

She couldn't let this slide. Not when it's all so new to you and it's obviously breaking your heart.

No one breaks your heart. Not on Jessi's watch.

The lady continued to speak, throwing out her opinions about how it might ruin Jessi's career, she could lose fans over this, and how you all of people weren't worth that happening. And she'd had enough.

"Okay, I'm done here," Jessi said and started to pull off her mic in anger. "You have absolutely no right to speak about my girlfriend that way. This is my life, not yours. You think you understand what people like me go through when it comes to being an idol but you don't. It's hard. Y/N is really all I have to keep myself grounded and she makes me happy. Why do you care so much? Why do you feel the need to bring her down? You're that bitter?"

You lifted your head, sorta smiling as she continued to speak to the lady that seemed to be at a loss for words right about now as she stared at Jessi in shock.

"If I lose fans because they can't handle me being in love or happier than I've ever been then they weren't fans of mine in the first place. You'd be surprised over how much love my girlfriend gets. It's only bitter people like you that care too much and think they have the right to interject in my private life that seem so against her. My personal life is none of your business. Please keep my girlfriend's name out of your mouth."

Jessi stood up, fists and jaw clenched from the anger she felt.

"Jessi, I-"

"I'm not talking to you anymore." Jessi interrupted, turning back to shake her head at the woman she had lost all respect for before she walked to you and pulled you into her arms and out of the room.

"Jessi," you whispered and stopped walking as she tried to pull you both out of the building as fast as you could possibly get.

You took her hand and she turned around to face you. You cupped her cheeks and began to brush your thumb along her soft skin.

"I can't believe you said all of that."

"You're surprised?" She chuckled, her eyebrows raised. "I told you that I'd always protect you and keep you safe, y/n. That doesn't just mean physically. I know how much people's words can hurt. But I've developed some thick skin. I don't care anymore about what people say about me. I just care about what they say about you. No one speaks like that about my girl. I love you too much to just sit back and stay silent. I want to make it clear that I won't stand for that."

"Oh, I think everyone's going to see that if they watch that interview."

She giggled and gave you a sweet kiss.

"Come on. I have a little while before my next interview and I'm taking you out for lunch."

You kissed her cheek and she put her arm around you as she led you out of the building and to a place down the street for some quality time together, while you both felt happier and more in love with each other than ever before.

Because people's opinions won't ever tear you apart. You've always got each other to lean on. Things like this will only ever bring you closer together and Jessi wouldn't ever let anything or anyone change that.
