TW: GORE
The silence was so slow. I wanted her to wake up now, I wasn't done. Her wound was healing, it was only a lung. She'd be awake soon then I could continue. I stared to the wall in front of me.
I waited a few seconds until red coloured tears spilled out of my eyes. I then heard grunting in pain from her diverted my attention to her. I took the bloody handkerchief away from her eyes allowing her muted red eyes to find mine.
I rolled her over, allowing blood to spill out her mouth as I hit her back. Then I positioned her to sit against the wall.
"You're going to be just fine, I'm sorry" tears were pouring out of my eyes.
"But you came to..." she was confused and in pain. I wasn't surprised but I was going to help her.
After a few seconds it had scarred so much that I could remove the blade. I threw it. "Do you trust me?"
She shook her head.
I then showed her the 3 blades I had left. One by one I threw them far down the the alley way.
"Now?"
She nodded then I helped her stand as she collapsed onto me, hugging me. I then hesitantly let my hands wrap around her waist.
"I can't control myself Enid, I could stop myself tonight but please fight back next time, I can't loose you"
We both started to cry there, me shedding more than her.
"I'm the only protection you have Rosette"
I thought about what she said; she was right. The trust I had was all in my sister, now she was the closest person to me.
I reached into my sleeve, all while she was crying into my shoulder. I felt her pull away and her eyes flicker between red and black. There was 6 blades on the floor, but I had a seventh. A small blade, made entirely of silver.
I was slowly dragging it up her spinal cord. It was in deep; I could feel her skeleton. "I came here to do one job"
She could barely speak because of the pain and that's when I moved my robe a little, revealing the stake.
"Rosette... please just... think..."
Thinking distracts from what needs to be done. Soon I got to her top which I delicately lifted.
She screamed which made me jump. My left hand went over her mouth and The blade hit her bone and ripped her top. That must have hurt. I decided to stop caring about her clothes and tear cotton and skin. The closer I got to her neck, the less time she had alive. Halfway up her back I realised she was clung to me, squeezing my robe in her hands. Soon, the line was complete and the back of her top fell. I made sure she was conscious.
"Want me to continue up your neck and into your skull!?"
"Use..."
She really couldn't get her words out. She was fighting death but I knew she was strong enough to speak.
"The stake..."
I put the blade away, taking the stake.
"Just... end it quickly..."
I lined it up with her heart, she didn't even realise it was there. The pain was too much.
Enid shed tears again as I slowly pushed it in, looking at the stain on her top. I couldn't look at her face. I just needed to take it out then stab fast. Going slow wouldn't do anything.
"I'm sorry about Constance, I want it to be over, please... please be fast I deserve this" She used all her energy to speak and was now slowly surrendering. She knew she would die here.
I put the stake back in my belt and looked up at her confused expression. "This was just a test"
"W-what?"
"I wanted to know what you'd say if you knew you were about to die" I smiled at her, almost letting out a giggle.
"That wasn't part of the agree..."
Then she fell into my arms. I wrapped her in my robe, sitting her against the wall as I picked up all 6 blades. I knew she was watching me, she wasn't completely asleep.
I then picked her up and walked home with her in my arms. I felt like I was carrying a corpse through New York. I worried a little that maybe I was.
