Chapter 3

Around 6:30 the next day Ravynne woke me up. She was wearing a gray and white striped long sleeve turtleneck with wide-leg white shorts. "Can you wake Cali up, she went back to sleep." Ravynne stated heading into the bathroom. "Yea, I can wake her up." I replied, rubbing my eyes. I then got out of bed and jumped onto Cali's bed. "Bro what the hell are you doing?" Cali said annoyed. "I'm waking you up!" I said sitting down on her bed. "Well, you didn't have to jump on me." Cali stated opening her dresser. "It was the first thing I thought of to wake you up, plus it always worked with my siblings." I said putting on a black shirt. "How many siblings do you have?" Cali asked, putting on a red button-up shirt with a dragon on it. "One older brother and one younger sister." I replied, grabbing a purple jacket. "Your leather pants look nice Cali." Ravynne said, tying her checkered shoes. "Thanks!" Cali said putting on red high tops. "Do you have any siblings?" I asked getting my toothbrush. "I have two older brothers." Cali said. "I'm an only child, but I have a ton of cousins." Ravynne said, fixing her bedsheets. We continued talking for a while about anything and everything.

Around 7:30 we went into the community room and talked to other people in our house. I noticed Seth talking to two other guys and decided to walk over. "Hey, Seth." I said, looking him up and down. "Hey, Starling." Seth said, hugging me. "This is Orion Heliot," Seth told me, pointing to a 6'4 guy with caramel skin. Orion also had light brown eyes and medium-length curly brown hair that was in a bun. ''and this is Goran Namid." Seth stated pointing to a 6'2 guy with limestone skin. He had brown eyes and elbow-length straight dark brown hair. "Cool eyebrow ring Orion." I said looking at him. "Thanks." Orion said smiling. "I'm taking a wild guess and I'm gonna say these two are your roommates." I said looking Seth in his eyes. "Yep." Goran said, looking at me. Cali and Ravynne then ran over. "Damn, Starling I didn't know you had cute friends." Ravynne said, looking at Seth, Orion, and Goran. "I will ignore that comment," I said, looking Ravynne in her eyes. "this is Ravynne and that is Cali." I told the boys as I pointed at Ravynne and Cali. "Nice to meet you two." Orion said, shaking their hands. "It's nice to meet you too, and excuse Ravynne she doesn't know how to act." Cali said with a laugh. "I know how to act, anyways, who might you three be?" Ravynne asked. "I am Seth." he said looking down at Ravynne. "I'm Orion." Orion said. "And I am Goran." Goran said, shaking Cali and Ravynne's hands. "Are you wearing all black Seth?" Ravynne questioned. "Yes, I like the color black." Seth said. "Can I go back to sleep, I don't want to be up yet?" Cali asked. "Why do you not want to be up?" Goran asked. "Starling jumped on my bed to wake me up." Cali said shooting daggers at me. "Well, Ravynne told me to wake you up AGAIN after she woke me up." I said defending myself. "If you two don't shut up." Seth said. "Little boy if you don't shut up, I am taller than you." Cali said, looking at Seth. "By an inch, one inch and you think you're all that." I said. "You're 6'1?" Orion asked, looking over at Cali. "Yep, being tall runs in my family." Cali stated. "Everybody is over 5'7." Cali explained. "That is the weirdest thing I have ever heard, that's cool though." Goran said. We continued to talk for a while until Professor Hewitt came in around 7:50 and brought us to the dining hall.

All the tables had many different breakfast foods. There were eggs, bacon, yogurt, apples, waffles, pancakes, sausages, and many more things. Some people had many things on their plates while others had a couple of things on their plates. Everybody was talking, either about their magic or their families. A Professor with copper-red hair then stood up and started speaking. "Hello, I am Professor Richard Banks," the red-haired professor said. "I am the fire magic professor but for today I am giving everybody their class schedule." Professor Banks explained. "If any of you have a problem with your schedule you can see me." Professor West told us. Everybody had 6 classes a day. We didn't need all the classes. We only needed to learn how to use our magic. But the teachers wanted us to know about the other types of magic and how they work. I always had my cosmic classes last every day. Lunch is in the middle of my third class and my cosmic class is after dinner. After we got our schedule everybody went off to do their own thing. Some explored the school, others went back to their dorms, and some people stayed in the dining hall. I stayed in the dining hall and continued talking with Seth because everybody else left us. "Where's Luna I thought you two would be hanging out right now?" Seth asked. "She's coming over right now." I replied. Seth looked up. Luna was walking over with a 6'1 almond-skinnedothers guy. "Hello Starling and Seth, this is Saros Talbot!" Luna said smiling. "Hey." the almond skinned boy said. "Nice hair Saros." Seth said looking at Saros' wavy short brown hair. "Thanks, your hair looks nice too!" Saros replied. "I noticed this morning that Seth has black eyes." I added in. "That's creepy but cool." Luna's light calming voice said. "What's your eye color?" Seth asked Saros. "I have light blue eyes." Saros replied. "I have Heterochromia, so one of my eyes is blue and the other is green." I told them. We all sat there for another hour or so until Cali, Ravynne, Orion, and Goran came back. We were talking about our classes and ourselves. At once Ravynne stood up. "I now remembered something we found while walking around." Ravynne told us. "I remember where it was so come with me!" Ravynne said super fast. We all got up and followed Ravynne. She led us through many corridors and up what felt like hundreds of stairs. We finally ended up in a room full of many interesting things. "What's so interesting about this room?" Soros asked. "Well if you looked at everything you would notice that all these keys in here have labels," Ravynne said. "While this one in Goran's hand is not labeled." Cali finished looking at Soros. "So we aren't gonna introduce ourselves?" Orion questioned making everybody burst out laughing. "I'm Soros and you are ." Soros said, looking at everybody but Luna, Seth, and me. "I am Orion, nice to meet you." Orion said, shaking his hand. "I'm Goran!" Goran said. "I am Ravynne and that is Cali." Ravynne said, shaking Soros' hand and looking over at Cali. "Did you figure out what the key goes to?" I asked. "No, but we are going to find out." Orion said. "And how will we do that." Seth said, running his hands over some jewelry. "It's called using it on anything and everything in this school." Cali said with a "isn't it obvious" look on her face. "I have better things to do than stick a key in every keyhole I find." Seth said, stopping to look at us. "What do you even have to do?" I asked. "Mail your family and do your schoolwork." I stated staring up at him. "Yes, that is exactly what I will spend my time on." Seth stated. "That is boring." Cali stated looking at a necklace. "It isn't boring, if Seth wants to do that he can." Luna said, trying to stop an argument from happening. "Will y'all stop touching things!" I said after a few moments of silence. "What you yelling for?" Cali said. "You guys are touching everything in here not knowing what it could do," I stated looking at everybody. "plus it could be dirty, we don't know if this stuff got cleaned." I said with a calmer voice. "That's a good point." Goran said. "Well, I will be leaving you, crazy people." Seth told us walking out. " Not so fast tall boy." Ravynne shrieked, grabbing Seth's shirt. "You gonna make him mad if you don't stop." Orion shared. "Let him leave there isn't anything else to do here anyway." I told Ravynne. "I realized, how will we all see what the key goes to if only one of us has it." Soros questioned. "I didn't think that part through." Cali confessed. "Since I am getting dragged into this," Seth said glaring at Cali. "I will carry around the key and see what it goes to." Seth continued. "Are you sure because you don't have to do this?" Luna reassured Seth. "The rest of you would be too suspicious while I am not." Seth commented. "How are you not suspicious?" Orion asked. "For my family to keep our house me and my sibling's stole, we never got caught." Seth flat out said. "We generally stole from rich people." Seth said to clear things up. "On that note, I will head back to my dorm." Soros said. "Starling and Seth why don't you two find what the key goes to." Goran directed. "Sure, let's go!" I said dragging Seth out of the room.

"Oh for heaven's sake." I said as me and Seth walked down a corridor full of doors. "What now?" Seth asked putting the key into another keyhole. "Zaleria is arguing with 2 people." I answered. "Well I'll over and see what it's about while you do this." Seth said handing me the key. 15 or so minutes later they all came over. "What are you doing?" One of the boys asked. "The dumbest thing in my life." I answered. "Anyways, this is Tate and Blaize Rathmore." Zaleria told me. "Before you ask, yes we are twins." One of them said. "Our only difference our eyes." The other said. "Tate has blue-green eyes, while I have black eyes." Blaize said. "So what are you two even doing?" Zaleria asked. Seth explained it to them within 5 or so minutes. "Hold up can't we duplicate the key using your magic Seth?" I asked removing the key for the 5th door in the corridor. "Yes, we can." Seth said taking the key from my hand. After a minute or two there was a key for each of us to use. "Will you stop grunting and groaning?" Tate said making us look up. "No I will not, the key is stuck." I groaned. "I can help." Blaize spoke coming over to me. In one swift movement the key was back in my hand. "Why am I now finding out you have telekinesis?" Zaleria asked with an offended sound in her voice. "You never asked me or Tate what magic our family has." Blaize replied putting his key in the last keyhole. "Welp this was useless, the key goes to nothing." Zaleria immediately said when the door didn't open. "There are thousands of door's in this school so it could be one of those." Seth stated putting his key away. "That was our 50th door, this is too much we need more people to help us." I said informing them. "Seth would you mind copy the key some more while the rest of us get other people to help us." I asked. "Oh yea leave me to do the hard part." Seth said irritated. "Zaleria back down." Tate said at once. "Seth is messing around, he doesn't mind doing it." I informed her before she could hurt him. "I'll see you in the community room with the key's after lunch." Seth stated heading toward our house.

"Hello you migraine maker's." Iris said as we stopped behind my friends. "This is who you found to help us?" Zaleria asked. "No, I found more people who would put up with us." I replied. "So, when will we meet them." Goran asked. " "Once I actually convince them to help us." I said seating next to Luna. "It will easy to convince Wren since I am helping." Iris explained. We all talked and ate the whole time. Cali and Zaleria tried to see who could eat more in 10 minutes. Heath and Saros were getting to know each other better. Iris and Luna were talking about the crystal's they had. Seth and Tate were talking about the key Ravynne found. Lei and Orion were making a map of the school. Ravynne and Goran were making a plan. While everybody was doing that, Blaize and me decided to read books about the school. Once lunch ended half of us went to the library to do research. The other half decided to continue what they were. doing. Me and Seth then went to our community room with the keys.

"So, how many keys do I need to make?" Seth asked as we entered our community room. "You need to make 31." I responded. "That's a lot so it will take a while." Seth replied, looking up at me. "Okay, I'll do my own thing then." I said seating next to him. After 20 minutes all the keys were made. "Here they are." Seth said. "So, how many keys do I need to make?" "I am giving these keys to the people who agreed to help us already." I said walking towards the door.

"And who might these people be?" Heath asked sitting down with the rest of us. "I am Rosina Ebonywood." the 5'3 honey skinned girl with curly sandy blonde hair said. "I am Astrid Huang." the 5'5 red-brown skinned girl with dyed purple hair said. "I am Michael Fadington." the 5'11 dark skinned boy with short kinky black hair said. Everybody then introduced themselves to Rosina, Astrid and Michael. "So this is everybody who is helping us?" Lei asked. "No, there are others but they are busy." I stated. "Starling has 19 other people for you all to meet." Astrid said. "So you 3 already met them?" Goran asked. "Most of us were together when she asked us to help." Astrid answered. "Don't worry you guys will meet them soon." I said trying to reassure them.
