Percy PoV

Leaving Peter on the ground, I dashed off in a random direction.

He had ended on a quote from Spiderman. He's a great man.

I keep running for a few minutes before I hear strange noises, like mandibles clanging together.

I turn the corner and see...
Humanoid ants. Just like the one that attacked Peter.

No kidding, where did they come from?!
Well the priority is to find my way.
When in doubt, always ask for a clear answer.

"Hey, can you tell me how to get to the center of the maze?!"

The ants turn to me.
One of them comes forward.
"I can smell one of ours... You killed her..."

"Maybe. Are you going to answer or not?"

The ant comes forward even more.
"Do you know who I am?"

She lifts her front legs, revealing sharp fangs.
Good. It seems I have no choice.

Slash

"Let me ask you again. How do we get to the center?"

All the ants take a step back.
And the body of the ant that had come forward falls to dust behind me.

I sheathe my sword.
"Well listen, all I want to know is how to find my way through this maze."

"You killed our sisters... you deserve to die... the flesh of a demigod..."
They all come towards me.

I sigh.
"If they ask me again if I know who they are, I go on a rampage."

"Do you know who we are?"

I draw my sword again.
"I had warned you."

And as announced, I make a carnage.

My sword slashes through the pile.
And I realize one thing.
I didn't even look at how many of them there were.

Their mandibles slam in all directions, their paws split the air, but my body dodges, parries, and attacks, all without my thinking about what to do. Everything is done instinctively.

"His eyes... they shine..."

I don't stop. I keep on cutting, slashing, parrying.
It only lasts a few dozen seconds, and when there are no more enemies, I stop.

I look around me.
The golden dust, the only remnant of the monsters, reaches my shins.

I sheathe my sword. I must have sent a good hundred of them to Tartarus. All in less than a minute.

During my long training, I perfected my technique. And in addition to the practice, I leave room for my instinct.

Instinctively, my body erases any superfluous movement and acts on its own.

"Well, let's get back on track."

HONK!

I turn around slowly.
At the end of the alley stood a Gorilla. Not a gorilla. A Gorilla.

He was almost as tall as the hedge.
As if his size wasn't enough, he had the build of an American soccer player, but on his scale.

I see a movement in his hand.
He seems to be holding something.

"Help..."

"What..."

"Percy... help me..."

"Anne?"
