Chapter 7

***Carliey's POV***

I limped into school and every single eye went to me. People gasped. Some snickered. Some looked sorry. Others started spreading rumors. I swallowed any pride that I had and started limping down the hall. Blaze tried talking to me but I had to keep my promise. Why? Because my dad had hacked into the schools security cameras. He could see my every move.

"Carliey? W-What happened?" I hung my head low and kept wincing as my right ankle hit the ground. Blaze knew something was up if I didn't answer back right away. I had to keep going though. That's the only thing I had to do. Keep limping. Don't talk to anyone. I couldn't talk to anyone. My jaw was hurting from yesterday.

"C-Carliey?" Someone whispered. The voice sent chills down my spine. Only one voice could do that. Zayn's. "Look at me." I just kept going.. I couldn't lift my head. I couldn't let him see me. "Ca-" Zayn started but stopped suddenly. I felt the tears starting in my eyes as I looked up and over my shoulder at him. He was motionless. He said nothing. I wasn't even sure if he was breathing. Zayn turned around and walked down the hall and disappeared. So much for him keeping his promise. I ran, while managing whimpers, into the bathroom that no one uses and grabbed my foundation out of my backpack.

I looked into the big mirror and tears instantly stung my eyes. I was hideous now. Nothing could change that. Makeup probably couldn't hide it. Love couldn't fix it. The future couldn't heal it. That was facts. Very true facts.

My hand started to shake as I applied makeup to my face. If I lightly touched my face, pain shot through my cheeks. I let out a cry as the pain became unbearable. Why was I born into this life? Why was I always abused..

"Carliey?" A voice whispered. It had a certain vibe to it that made one thing stick out like a sore thumb. It was a male voice. The voice was soft and sweet. Only one person could have that voice. The voice that was sweet and caring and that melted my heart every time I heard it. "Carliey, what happened?"

I stood there like a board and looked into the mirror at my reflection. Yup. I was hideous. And makeup was to painful to hide it. "Carliey." He whispered spinning me around. His chocolate brown orbs stared into me awaiting an answer.

I couldn't reply. My dad could hear me even though there were no cameras in the bathroom. I knew he could.

The bell rang signaling first hour had began. I jumped and bumped my right arm on the sink causing pain to shoot up my bone and myself to cry out again. My dad had twisted my arm so hard last night that I think I broke it.

"Carliey why won't you answer me?" There was something in his eyes, and I knew what it was.

It was hope.

"Zayn..." I whispered not knowing what to say. "I fell down the stairs last night.."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah." I stuttered out as I looked away from his glare. "This was the first time though."

"Are you sure it was the first time?" He asked and he grabbed my backpack and intertwined our fingers. I nodded and that was all it took for him to drag me out of the bathroom and down the hallway and to the big doors that let out of the building. I was trailing behind him and wincing in pain.

"Zayn where are you taking me?"

"The hospital and then I'm calling Eleanor and Danielle and telling them to go shopping for clothes." He explained as I tried keeping up.

"Why clothes?" I asked taking every step carefully while Zayn took two at a time.

"I'll explain once we get to the hospital, okay?" I nodded my head, knowing Zayn was on the verge of snapping at will at any second.
