Oh, shoot. What time is it?
I overslept.
I can hear the sound of my empty stomach that wasn't filled since yesterday's lunch. I had to limit my meals because of the upcoming fashion show I had to sit front-row on. For us models, every bit and inch of what we eat matters, and just a small increase in food quantity will cost us.
I lazily stood up and went outside my room just to meet an empty atmosphere. My brother's at his hospital again, I just hope his wife and daughter are here so I could interact with people.
"Ma'am, good morning. Do you want some breakfast today?" The old maid of our mansion. She's a very sweet elder that I used to be with since usually, I'm home alone. Or, sometimes, she is. It's because either I'm at my work, I'm at my apartment, or I'm at Spencer's house.
"Coffee would be great." I smiled at her. I looked to my side and saw Keira running towards me. She's Thaddeaus' daughter, my niece. She will turn seven this April.
"Auntie Jadie!" She said, hugging my knees. I went down her level and pinched her cheeks a little as it was really cute. Her mother also came and hugged me.
"Jade! It's nice to see you!" Meredith, my sister-in-law. She's also a doctor (an OB-GYN), but works in a different hospital.
"Mer, I'm so glad you guys are here. It fills the empty house," I said. Our house is full of white interiors, so it's ten times sadder when nobody's around.
She gestured me to the dining table, and I saw that she prepared breakfast for us. We left Keira for the moment in the living room and talked to each other at the table.
"So, what brings you here?" I asked, taking a sip from my coffee. Her light aura changed immediately. She looked down.
"I can't reach Thad, I called him over ten times now," she tried calling him again, but no one answered. "He promised to not work today because it's 'family day' at her daughter's school, so I thought he was here. And of course, it's Valentine's day...!"
I swallowed a lump in my throat. Something's not right with Thaddeaus, from the first I saw him. "M-maybe I should check out the hospital later..."
"No need, Jade. I just don't understand him. What's so special about his hospital? If you think I should understand because I'm a doctor too, I really don't." I just smiled awkwardly. I don't understand Thaddeaus too.
