Perfection: Chapter Six.

Frankie’s POV

“I know it’s not the best choice, but it’s better than nothing!” I said, opening the ratty door to the cheap apartment that the nice old man let me rent out. With all the money I saved up doing…Things…. I had about five thousand dollars.

I didn’t spend a single penny since I started. So we have the apartment for at the most six months. Now I have around two hundred dollars left, which will cover our food costs.

The apartment was a little old and dirty with some cobwebs since nobody else wanted to rent it out. The paint was chipping off the walls, and we lived right next to a train track, so that’s going to be a lot of fun when it comes by every hour. The walls started to shake and the furniture shifted around a little, the lights flickering because of the passing train. After about five minutes, it stopped and the apartment settled down.

We continued down the little hallway into the kitchen/dining room/living room. The old man put in a little bit of furniture for us and I was eternally grateful. There was a small card table for the dining table, two old rusty fold-up chairs and in the kitchen was a small fridge, a sink, some cabinets, an oven and an ancient microwave.

 It was better than nothing!

In the living room was a small ratty couch and a semi-broken coffee table. Opposite of the couch was a small TV that I stole from a store, and we got some channels on it such as Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, the news, the sports channel and a Mexican station.

I walked with Alysh to the bedroom and put the bags and everything else on the full-sized mattress that was on the ground, it was semi-comfy when I sat down on it. Alysh flopped on the bed and instantly fell asleep again. I pulled the comforter around her and kissed her head. I sat back up and scoped the rest of the house. In our room was an en-suite bathroom, which had a small sink and mirror, a somewhat clean toilet and a very small shower with a torn curtain. This was for sure better than nothing, I reminded myself again.

We had a tiny closet in the room, and I put both of our clothes in there as I settled down to make the house a little more welcome.

I pulled out the one clock that I took from the Sharper Image, it was an iHome and I plugged it into the outlet, shining the room with light. I stuck my new iTouch on there and it illuminated more light as the apple logo shone on the iPod.

I walked back into the living room, flopping onto the couch and turned on the TV. Jersey Shore came onto the screen, I wanted to change it but I was too lazy. I lounged on the couch and sleep soon came over me as my eyes drooped heavily. I let them fall right before someone punched Snooki in the face.

Alysh’s POV

The shaking of the house woke me up with a start. It was going to take a little while for me to get used to the trains. I blinked furiously as the sun shone upon my sleep driven face. I felt a little more comfortable now that I wasn’t beaten senseless every time I woke up. I stretched my arms lazily over my head, yawning quite loudly.

I trudged into the bathroom and looked at my reflection in the mirror. My hair was everywhere and I couldn’t help but giggle a little at it. I took the ponytail holder that was wedged in my mess of a hair and redid it, finger combing it back into a high messy bun.

After that I used the toilet and walked back out, looking into the closet and marveled at all the pretty clothes that Frankie got me. I smiled widely and picked out a pretty sundress, wriggling out of my old gross clothes and slid this over me.

I looked at the pile of underwear and bras she also got, I picked out a simple nude bra and a pair of black undies.

Finding a cute pair of gladiator sandals my size, I slipped them on and walked out of the room to see Frankie snoring loudly on the old couch and MTV’s true life on the TV. I sat on the floor in front of the couch and laid against it, using the remote to flip the channels to Disney Channel.

I watched Hannah Montana for a little bit before I got really hungry. I got up and went to the small pantry and saw that it had some food. I scanned over the selection before I found some Pop-tarts. I took two out and opened the wrappers, munching on them while I walked back to the TV.

After a small Montana Marathon, Frankie finally stirred, waking up. I turn around and look at her. I smile, and she yawned straight into my face.

“Very beautiful sis, if I do say so myself.” I laughed.

She just gave me a sleepy look, and leaned over grabbing the last Pop-tart. I shrugged, she needed some food today. When we lived in the houses they always fed us so little food, and Frankie always gave me all of her food. I felt terrible but she said not to worry and that she’d get some food at the store later for herself.

If she wasn’t my sister I don’t know what I would have done without her. I wouldn’t be here today that’s for sure! I kissed her on the cheek and said, “You’re the best sis ever, I love you” She smiled and added, “Your only sister. Don’t ever forget.”

We watched TV for a little while longer when we both got bored. I whined that there wasn’t anything to do, and Frankie gave me a smile saying, “Well we have plans for tonight. There’s this fair tonight and we are SO going!!!” I squealed in excitement and was so ready to have some fun after all.

The whole afternoon we drove around Cascade Falls, looking at all the cool stuff and buildings that they had. Pretty soon it was around seven o’clock and we stopped by home to change into warmer clothes and headed out for a night of excitement and fun.
