The Addition

" Roderick! Get up now! We need to leave with Kelly before we burn with this place!" Annika was shaking me out of my bed, and throwing all of my stuff at me along with my backpack. "What's going on? What time is it?" I question. Kelly busted through the door of our room and started shouting things, things I couldn't understand. All of the smoke was making me nauseous. "The military paid us a visit and started killing people and burning things down! Then they left the rest to the zombies!" Kelly was yelling as she handed us gas masks. We start running down a hallway when a piece of ply wood fell and Annika and Kelly fell down to the lower floor. "Go! I'll find a way down to you guys, just meet me outside of the pharmacy, a safe distance from the fire!" I instructed them. "Okay!, come on Annika, this building won't last forever" Kelly said. As they were running away, I could see Annika giving me a look as if she was getting split apart from her family. "Great, now where am I supposed to go?" I think to myself. I start running, and I see a window that was broken in the fire, " Maybe I could get out that way, but I would have no chance if it was a big drop" I continue thinking.I look down, and I see that I am about three stories up, and there would be no chance of survival if I jump. I spot a ladder going down to a fire exit, and I start descending it. I'm halfway between the first and second level, and the whole staircase falls off the side of the building. I fall on my back, lying there as everything goes blurry. I hear very faintly "Roderick. Get. Up" I recognize the voice, it's Kelly, she starts shaking me around and checking my pulse. "He's still alive, but I don't think he's conscious" Kelly stated. "How will we get him out of here?" Annika asked " There's a few horses down the street from here, I'll go get them, just watch him" Kelly Commanded, I reach into the back of my jeans and I give her a small revolver and I take the roll out and point to my backpack indicating the ammo is in there, " I though you were unconscious, that's what Kelly said" Annika said. I swipe my hand, a motion to say, forget it, and she get the revolver and loads it. We only saw several zombies and ten minutes before Kelly returned " Kelly, Roderick isn't dead, he just was moving a few minutes ago" Annika said, very anxiously " Great, but he won't last long with all of that blood leaking, reach into the side bag of that horse, there should be some supplies, after a few minutes of bandages and alcohol, Annika and Kelly put me onto one of the horses and Kelly sits behind me, making sure I don't fall, as we head back to the City Annika and I came from.
