We’re just about to have dinner, and Jenny’s been flipping channel to channel, and on every one, there’s some anchor claiming the U.S is going to be hit harder than we have in a long time. She got her flu shot a month ago, before we moved, and wants me to take the kids in to have theirs after work tomorrow. I’m not sure how I feel about it though, after being raised on the idea to just “tough it out”, and having consequently survived every bout with the flu that I’ve ever had.
I don’t know, maybe it’s a good idea with how crowded their classes are now. Caleb told me his psych 2 class is full of kids hacking their lungs out, so he really wants the shot…kids these days. The reason I’m writing you guys beforehand is that – hear me out – you remember Rudy Eugene[1] I used to work with before Kaya was born, and Jenny and I moved out of Miami? I met up with him the other day at McDonalds with the kids, and I guess he’s got himself a job at the quarantine station out there working for the CDC.
Sounds great, right? The guy’s an Army vet, and he’s struggled finding work, so good for him. Any ways, we didn’t exactly meet in the “oh, hey! It’s you, how are ya?” and handshakes-all-around sort of way. I saw him when I walked in, and sat down with the kids. Before I could get settled, he’d come up to our table, looked at me, and said “they’re taking it to 500,000, Dave, it’s bad, it’s inhuman is what it is, what they’re turning us into, making us do” all in a single blazingly quick, slurred sentence.
He was telling me about some “spooky shit” going on over there, (his exact words). Said there’re things in our vaccines now that if “middle lower class citizens like myself” knew about, we’d realize where the real sickness lies. I got the feeling he wasn’t talking about the flu when he mentioned the real sickness, so I looked into it a bit; you’d think he’d been sworn to secrecy at penalty of death with how little meaningful info he gave me.
Dad, we both know these vaccines carry some nasty shit, and that was all readily available: Ethylene Glycol - used as anti-freeze,
Carbolic Acid - a toxic, caustic poison,
Mercury - kills brain, nerve and immune cells, Aluminum - known to cause Alzheimer's disease, seizures and cancer, and Formaldehyde - embalming fluid used to detoxify the other ingredients of vaccines. The thing that set me on alert was the amount of mercury in a flu shot, which varies, but in recent batches has gone well above several hundred times what was once considered a lethal dose.
You should have seen Rudy though, the way he would jump, and look over his shoulder every time some one else walked in…I don’t know, it can’t be that he’s on drugs, or he wouldn’t have that snuggly government job, but he started jumping around between flu shots, government conspiracies, natural resources, designer drugs with names like cleaning agents, formaldehyde-related poisonings back in the prohibition days, and even cannibalism. The thing that’s killing me is the look in his eyes. I don’t claim to always know when some one’s lying, or messing around, but I spent five days a week, every week for fifteen years working with this guy. He was scared, dad. The whole thing made me feel like he was trying to tell me something more than “the shots aren’t safe”.
So, I looked up the natural resources thing, and found nothing even remotely connected to flu shots, just the big Wahoo over the population supposedly reaching 7-billion on Halloween a couple days ago. That’s when it clicked. The death toll from this year’s flu is still comparably low but, “’tis the season”…with all the factors involved in finding any kind of solid figure, it’s easier to rely on the 36,000 average set by the CDC. The death toll connected with influenza hasn’t jumped around very widely, but the amount of vaccine dispersed has more than quadrupled. Supply has to try to match demand, and an increased population means increased demand, etc.
Shit runs down hill as they say, and with our country’s money crisis, jobs are harder to come by, and with fewer workers, and higher costs, people are unruly. I think I know what Rudy was talking about now, about the “500,000”. Also in those shots are things that reduce fertility in the recipient. Would they do that? Could they do that; forcibly reduce the population? That kind of thing wouldn’t stand today, right? We’re human beings, not trash you throw away when it starts to take up too much space.
I think Rudy was just pulling my leg (and doing a damn good job of pulling it convincingly). The bit about cannibalism has to be his ode to the recent string of psychos eating people around the world. From that professor in Sweden who attacked his wife and ate her lips, to the PhD in England who killed and ate those three girls last December, to the Russian kid who lured victims to his pad through a dating website then made meatballs, sausage, and rib entrees of the body.
Let me know what you have to say about the kids shots. The more I think about it, the more it seems like a joke. Rudy is weird, sure, but man…hahaha, he really put the scare into Kaya. I’ll have to ask him what that was all about the next time I see him.

[1] Rudy Eugene attacked homeless man Ronald Hoppo , eating 75% of his face in Miami, FL on 5/26/12. Toxicology results showed only marijuana, and an enormous amount of mercury in his system after the autopsy.
