In front of Wen Jian stood a man who looked young. He had dark brown eyes that looked like deep pools of ink. His long pale hair was tied up with a light blue ribbon. He wore long white robes. He held an elegant light blue fan in his left hand, which he swayed gently. He looked as if he didn't belong in this place.
Based on looks alone, Wen Jian would give him a solid nine-point four out of ten. It was the dark expression in their eyes that made Wen Jian refrain from a perfect score.
He gave a smile to Wen Jian, which contrasted with the dark expression in his eyes.
"Hello there, little one." His voice was pleasant to hear. It was calm and gentle. "I don't remember a disciple like this in the Valley Sect. Tell me, where are you from?"
The man closed the fan. He tapped the tip of it on his right hand repeatedly.
"From," Wen Jian paused, he couldn't say the heavens. Who would believe him? Even he would be skeptical if someone told him they were from the heavens. "The East Sect."
He had heard the man say the Valley Sect, so each location must have the word sect in it! Besides, he ran here from the east! Besides, sect could be short for section! Therefore he did come from the East Sect.
"East Sect?" His eyes narrowed on Wen Jian.
The narrowed eyes did not affect the man's current score. If he smiled, perhaps his score would rise up. Perhaps his eyes would curve up to look like little crescent moons! How cute that would be!
Wen Jian brushed those thoughts away quickly. He had just met this man! The attraction of physical appearances couldn't sway personality! He didn't even know this man for that long! He didn't even know their name!
"Yes." Wen Jian said with a nod. "May I ask this master who saved me for their name?"
"Saved you?"
Wen Jian nodded again. "Yes, from the men earlier."
Didn't this man clearly save him? He even made half the forest burn!
"Saved you, huh." The man muttered to himself. "Alright, then this one's name is Fei Hong. And this little one's name is?"
"Wen Jian!" Wen Jian said with a bright smile.
This Fei Hong was certainly on the table for a wife candidate. But there's a feeling inside of Wen Jian that there is something off about this man.
Perhaps it was because he called him little. Wen Jian's height wasn't that small! He was in fact taller than this man! He was at least a small steam bun taller!
Fei Hong glanced up at the sky. The sun was already starting to dip away. A few pinks streaked across the sky. If he was here any longer, then they would come again. It would only leave more trouble on his plate than he wanted.
Perhaps this is why there are those great masters who never raised their own disciples.
"Then if there's nothing else, this one will take their leave first." Fei Hong said, reopening his fan.
"Fei Hong!" Wen Jian called out.
"Yes, does the little one need something?"
Wen Jian has decided this man gets minus half a point. What was this little one talk? It was clear he wasn't that small!
"That is," Wen Jian gave him a sheepish grin, "Is it possible to be able to go with you?"
"Going with me?" Fei Hong asked.
"Don't misunderstand! I am fully capable of cooking and cleaning! I can help!" Wen Jian said, "It's just that I happened to have come from a long way and don't have a place to stay in. I can't get back home."
Technically everything that he said is true.
"I suppose it'll be alright. I've heard about the tragedy in the East Sect. Accepting another one shouldn't be too much of a concern." Fei Hong said, glancing at Wen Jian. "But be aware I do have little disciples at home to take care of. It's best to get going then. Come, hold onto my hand."
Wen Jian did as he was told.
With a few waves of Fei Hong's fan, the two started to float up. The breeze blew into Wen Jian's hair as the trees started to become smaller and smaller. A few strands blew into his eyes. He could see the peaks of some mountains in the distance.
"We're heading towards there." Fei Hong said, "I do have two little ones there, so be gentle to them when we arrive."
Wen Jian always liked kids. They were fun and innocent. They didn't think of hurting people. They just wanted to be happy and live well. In the future, he would want some too!
"Don't worry! I get along with kids well."
"Is that so?"
Looking back, Wen Jian shouldn't have trusted Fei Hong's judgment on who's little and who's not.
