Cheyenne's POV

"Hi," He greeted me.

"H-hi," I greeted him back.

"May I come in?" He asked politely.

I nodded and stepped aside, allowing him to enter. As he goes to sit on the edge of the bed, I stood frozen still at who I believe is my now Foster Dad. Darryl did mention that he keeps a low profile and is known for his music.

"I hope you like your bedroom. I wanted to be sure you were comfortable."

I...I can't believe it. I thought, still standing by the door in disbelief. I was so in my thoughts I didn't even hear him calling my name.

"Cheyenne, are you okay?"

"Your...The Artist," I uttered out.

"Well, used to be, but I took my name back. It's okay to call me, Prince."

"Oh, sorry, I thought you still went by the love symbol."

"It's okay."

An awkward silence filled the room until he got up and walked towards me, which causes me to back away uneased.

"It's okay. I'm not gonna hurt you." He calmed me, reaching for my hand slowly.

I slowly took his hand before we walked towards my bed. After we sat down, I spoke up.

"I can't believe... you're the one who adopted me."

"I guess Darryl told you."

"He only told me that the person who adopted me is a celebrity who's known for his music, but he never told me it was you. So I thought it could've been anyone."

He nodded, understanding what I informed him.

"I never thought I'd find myself here after what my.... they did to me. They just... just did it out of spite because they think I deserve it." I let out, wiping a few tears that I didn't know were running down my face.

"You didn't deserve what happened to you, Cheyenne. You did the right thing to tell someone that your brother and sister were mistreating you."

"I don't have a brother or sister; Darryl's all I have because he's my brother and would never hurt me."

"Of course he is. That's why he's doing his best to keep you safe."

"And bringing me here to you was one of them."

"So is making sure that Tommy or Chasity don't know that you're here."

"He went back? Wh-what if they find out? They'll hurt him."

"They won't. He only went back to finish school, and there's been an order of protection for you and him. They won't have any contact with y'all while they're serving time. Darryl will be okay."

After Dad died from an overdose, Darryl stepped up to be the man who provides for his family. He not only did it because Dad's drug habits put us in debt, but he also wanted to take care of us. Especially Ma. If going back was okay for him, then it's okay with me as long I know he's okay.

"Also, he wanted me to let you know that he loves you, and he'll call to check on you in between classes. He'll even come to visit on the holidays."

"He means that?" I question in excitement.

"Positively. He's welcomed at Paisley anytime." He assured.

"Thank you," I said, bear-hugging him.

"Your welcome, mama," He replied, hugging me back.

Boy, I never thought I'd be hugging Prince. Not a dream.

"So, do you like pancakes?" He asked cheerily.

" I never had pancakes before."

"Well, you're in luck because you'll get to see me throw down in the kitchen. And I can guarantee you my pancakes are inviting." He declared, making me smile.
